NC Folk yall better represent

I have just been informed that white boys still have the right and authority to rape black women. If you don’t know, last week at Duke University, the Blue evils represented such as devils do. At that time, a young African American woman was raped by three members of the Duke University lacrosse team. She reported that she was scheduled to dance for a party of five men at a bachelor party, she said Friday. However, she ended up being surrounded by approximately 40 white male college students.

They way reports go, after she and another exotic dancer took the floor, the men started to scream racial slurs, upon which the women stopped dancing and started to cry. Details of the incidence, only made available based on reports in the Raleigh News & Observer note that the alleged rape happened at a three-bedroom rental house early on the morning of March 14 at 610 N. Buchanan Blvd. (by Duke's East Campus).

The woman was a student at N.C. Central University and supported her self and son by dancing. When the men became rabid, the women tried to leave, but were eventually pulled into a bathroom and raped. One witness, who was next door, Jason Bissey, indicated that he saw the victim that night but did not call the Police. After finally getting away from the lynch mob shouted, according to the witness noting that one of the men stated “... Thank your grandpa for my cotton shirt,' " Bissey said. This is also evident on Emergency 911 tapes recorded on the night of the attack.

Only after the outcry of some folks did Duke University President Richard suspended all the games of its nationally ranked men's lacrosse team .What we do know is that based on legal documents, 15 members of the current team had misdemeanor charges related to disorderly and disruptive behavior prior to this event. My problem is three fold. First, did it take investigators two days to execute a search warrant at the house; second, why did nine days passed before all members of the Lacrosse team were ordered to go to police labs for DNA testing., and Three, where are my brothers from NC A&T, Shaw University, N.C. Central or any other black school up in that camp handling their business. I remember when I was at Morehouse. Josa Williams went to Forsyth County here in Georgia with about 20 folks and got stoned by the white community as they said go home nigger. The next week, we folks at Morehouse and in the city as a whole went up that camp 20,000 strong to represent and crack some heads if we had too. This is unacceptable. All you fools talk about choppers, bussing gats, and popping fools and your pistols, but where are you all at now? Men be men, and stop pretending yawl hard, cause until yawl represent and take a stand, yawl still fuck boys to me with black skin and wearing white mask.

I struggle to stir up an ounce of sympathy. I'd expect to get raped if I pulled my clothes off in front of a bunch of dirty dogs, too.

And I must comment, why does almost everything you address seem to be about race? My WHITE father was bludgeoned to death and his body tossed in a dumpster and absolutely no investigation was initiated.

I doubt race or sex or occupation have much to do with it. Cops are lazy. And investigations are work.

In response to your email yes, I did hear about this. It's very sad. While I agree that those women should not have been in that house in the first place etc. etc. etc., the way that Duke and NC police handled this situation at the outset is a disgrace. This day in age, rapists use condoms so I would not be surprised if nothing comes of the DNA tests. If it had been the basketball team instead of "lacrosse" and those women had been white, the ENTIRE team would have been thrown in jail until they figured out who was behind the attack(s).

I can't believe the lack of outrage over this story. Actually yes I can. Black woman gets raped so it isn't a big deal. Not a national story. If a bunch of black players had raped a white girl it would be everywhere. Every-fucking-where! Imagine if it was little Natalee Holloway or some shit like that.

@eva: I am sorry about your father, but your comments are ignorant. Nobody deserves to be raped.

I've heard about this on the radio for a couple of days now and it's so sad that they still find this acceptable and that it took 2 days for something to happen...why were they playin in the first place if they have past records...wow....we've come so far but we have so much farther to go

T Dawg...I feel u...the reality is the fuck boys don't relate themselves to what's going on. They really don't even know they exist.

Eva...I must admit...being a survivor of rape at the innocent age of 10...I can not muster up any sympathy either. Why put yourself in a vulnerable situation, when your already vulnerable just being a woman? That really puzzles me. Did you think it couldn't happen to you? WTF? It appears to me that issues of race makes Torrance's temperature boil...as it does mine. I am sorry to hear about your father...he was in the minority of his race, as for the rest of us...we are labeled the Minority as a race. To me is very derogatory. I dont know where or how you live, but I know where I live, I have to face this issue every single day. I was walking out of a department store along with three other caucasian women...the alarm goes off...why was I the only one pulled back and searched? There's a problem there and it needs to be addressed. I appreciate my brother, (Torrance) he is one of the last of this kind...and I stand firm behind his advocacy for his race. I wish there were more of him out there...but everyone wants to be a fuck boy. I'm sorry but I think race has EVERYTHING to do with it, and sex plays a part of it as well.

I thought this happened over this past weekend, but while watching ESPN last night, it looks like this happened TWO WEEKS AGO! The lack of attention by the Police and the Press is morally reprehensible!

I don't have much respect for strippers or the stripping industry (in the ATL, they usually have their "pimp" with them to hold the money, make change, and keep guys hands off of the girls), but rape is a very serious crime that should be dealt with in a serious manner. We found out about Kobe Bryant (and that stank young lady he alledgedly raped) the very next day! And by all accounts, that was consentual.

This was a gang rape at one of our nation's "more prestigious" universities! What the f***?!? ESPN showed the team out practicing YESTERDAY! What are they practicing for? I thought they had forfeited the rest of their season?

This stinks to high heaven and I can almost bet you that they will never bring the perpetrators to justice for this injustice. Since there were so many guys there, the chance that the traumatized young lady will be able to identify the 2 or 3 guys who violated her is doubtful. The only chance is if they can use DNA testing to match with the suspects.

This is very sad, indeed.

I still find it hard to believe that it took investigators so long to react on this case. Rape, is rape, plain and simple, and something needs to be done about this situation!

I'm not at all suprised. What does that tell you?

first of all who is this eva_jawn ? Why is there always a white man/woman on black peoples blogs talking about how there isnt injustice ?

I dont care if you run buck neked ( yeah i said it) across the interstate no one has the right to rape you.

Secondly Im sorry about your dad and yes an investigation should have been made !

Now moving on .. it doesnt suprise me either this situation..if it were an exotic white dancer ( see they dont call the white ones strippers) it would have received notice

There is no such thing as asking for rape. If a woman doesn't have the right to say no, then we may as well go back to the caveman days when all he had to do was hit her over the head with a club and drag her to the cave. So what, no don't mean no if a man is drunk with a hard on at a strip club? Let's be for real.

Hell yeah this is an issue of race. Black women were raped legally for hundreds of fucking years in this country. Did you hear of it? It was called slavery! And like it was said, if that had a been some big, buck brothus on the football team with some snowflake that looks like Paris Hilton, it would have been front page news the very next day.

Why do we study history? So that we don't repeat the same mistakes we made in the past.

I find it ironic that this is the same site the supports the song "it's hard out there for a pimp" now has sympathy for strippers!

I know someone who was a coach at Duke and I know what kinda money that school has and what lengths they willg go to protect their athletes. Can we really be surprised? How many rapes a year are covered up for these young men to remain eligible?

It's simple economics. Had these young women the $$ or financial backing to get their story out in the press they might be getting more attention!

NegroPino™ said...

Wow, thanks for posting this story because I too was in the dark about it.....I wanna sit back and see how this one plays itself out...

E.R. Carpenter said...

To me it's simple Miss Ahmad. Freedom of Speech and Expression-Yes. Freedom to Rape-No. You can talk about and glorify the pimp lifestyle all you want in a song and in a movie (which is what most rappers are rapping and actors are acting anyway). But actually going out and performing these acts is illegal and immoral. To be a pimp, bank robber or action hero with a kill rate of 100 bodies per second is illegal. To play one on TV and at the movies (and in music) is entertainment.

You are so right Torrance it seems that we have given up the fight to equal rights, equal justice and equality period. I think folks are forgetting about the struggles that our forefathers and other civil rights' leaders went through to force eqaulity to happen. Whose marching now? Who is going to pick up the torch and help to change these minds' sets. What is happening is happening because we are so lackadasical, everything we fought for and sorta won is returning because folks know we are going to be docile and sit back and cry woe is me and do nothing more. Rape is rape...I don't care if the woman stood in your face butt naked and bent over and pat it in your face if she says no...it means no. You are not an animal-take that bone and hunts somewhere else. There should be an outcry...I'm so ready....maybe a campaign of emails but something must be done. I am tired of doing nothing...

MsJayy said...

Sad indeed. I have to wonder though, with the mindset that some priviledged young men have in this country, would the story have ended any differently (in terms of rape) if the woman were of another race? I saw the lawyers for the co-captains making the rounds on tv shows this weekend...one of them is an African-American male who just didn't impress me as being much of a lawyer...or speaker....

When I first heard of this, I felt this undeniable sickness in my stomach as it filled with anger, but like you said, where’s the media coverage on this?! I mean, I expect this to be major news until things are ironed out. Shoot, they chased Kobe around and that was consensual sex!!! Either way, I'm eagerly awaiting the results on this one… You just never know…

But check this out, http://justice4twosisters.blogspot.com/ - It looks like the students at N.C. are rallying up...

RIGHT ON!

One reason it took so long to be seen as a crime was the same attitude displyed by many commenters here, with the exception of those above, that sex workers 'deserve what they get,' that someohow doing business with sex disqualifies you as a human being with legal and civil rights. Some cops, too, think stupid things like prostitutes can't be raped and if you take off your clothes, you're asking for it. The same ideas these young men probably hold, in addition to the racist assumption that a white boy can do whatever he wants.

Another point--colleges are notorious for covering up crimes committed by their athletes and young men, regardless of the race of the students or school involved.

And how come a college education never seems to include learning that women are people, too?

If it were a white blonde the investigation would have been real. Note the attention about the girl being released from Iraq, as a comparison.

This link will illustrate historical evidence that partially supports the supposition that the stripper/prostitute might not be telling the truth.

www.equityfeminism.com/archives/years/2004/000021.html

A 2003 USA Today investigation that looked at cases involving athletes and sexual assault.

www.usatoday.com/sports/2003-12-22-athletes-assault-side_x.htm

Over a 12 year period of time there were 164 high school, college and professional athletes charged with a sexual assault. Two cases involved a gang rape situation. One had charges reduced, the other had the charges dismissed. Both cases involved sex with an intoxicated woman.

I was unable to find a case where a gang rape was committed by well educated members of a highly disciplined athletic organization. In fact I was unable to find any conviction of forced act of gang rape by any athlete. You’d think that there must be one such historical case somewhere with so much hatred and blame.
"
That coupled with the 911 tape of the "I was driving by.." "Me and my girlfriend were walking by..." "I was sitting in front of the frat house when..." all different accounts, all told within a minute and a half by the same woman, Kim, that had a security guard call 911 and hour or so later, from Kroger when she was complaining that her passenger, the alleged victim, refused to get out of her car and was, "drunk or something". Sounds like a pretty big arguement must have taken place for Kim to have resorted to calling the police. In the background you can hear her say, "Maybe they can take her to where she wants to go"

Where is Kim????

Keep the heat on.

Just clear up some points.

1) Cops were there within 2 minutes after the first 911 call when some passersby reported the N. word. They stayed there for about six minutes even though the house was dark and locked up.

That's a VERY fast response.

2) Cops arrived at the store for the second 911 call for the 'lady who is drunk or intoxicated and wouldn't get out of the drivers car' very quickly too.

Another VERY fast response.

3) Cops didn't get the report of the rape apparently til they arrived on at the store to help remove the lady from the car. That's when they found out about the assault and rape.

They went back to the house and stayed on that scene for SIX HOURS.

4) Don't know why it took them so long to get the search warrant. But it doesn't seem to be because the cops or the investigators were slacking. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt here.

5) The seized the computers and cameras from the house first - before they went for the bathroom crime scene stuff. I hope they took pictures.

6) Attention by the press has been building.

N.

P.S. Please highlight the fact that the party shutdown within minutes after the two dancers left. Neighbor saw them all leave. The place was dark and nobody answered the door when the police came calling after the first 911 call.

You know that they were not in bed asleep that quick. They knew they did wrong and were hiding.
