Top 10 reasons 4 working for self

Addendum: muzk u here is me and my folk. From now on when I post will try and post one of 6 or 7 thousands songs we have (all live and impromptu). Me either keyboard, guitar or bass – but always lead vocals. enjoy & welcum 2 the world of Funk-try muzk.

10] If you a chief, you can put one in the wind in your bathroom, if u got innocents of course.

9] Getting to know all of the UPS, Fed EX and DHL delivery personnel and drank with them when they get off work.

8] Finding out actually how many small business owners on the Edgewood side of town and how they proud of your and down to support you.

7] Look on former woman face – when if she had come to practice on time, believed in the offense, she could have been down. Waivers and free agnecy are powerful tools.

6] Women, and your folk stopping by with libations

5] Deposits, Credit card transaction str8 to the brokerage account, and counting loot from the cash register while I listen to Lattimore, Lakeside, Blue Six and Tyron Brunson – cha ching.

4] Inventory control and pricing [ 2 words: Korea and China]

3] Having an almost 4 year-old, 4 lbs, all black Chihuahua named Famous high post at the door, in a chair, scaring all the customers and even they Great Danes and Pits away.

2] And did I say Women, and your folk stopping by with libations – LMBAO.

1] Having you seeds know they CFO and COO on paper and watch them run that camp like it is theirs – which it is.

  19. In a new life I will own a bookstore full of books, with several bookstore cats to keep the patrons company.

Sadly, the way to make a million dollars in the bookstore industry is to start with ten million dollars. That, or be like Bernie the Gentleman Thief (see: Lawrence Block) and actually make my money elsewhere and use the bookstore to launder the money rather than as a source of money, but that would require doing things that frankly do not appeal to me, so ... looks like the Snarky Penguin Bookstore shall never be. Oh well!

"Having an almost 4 year-old, 4 lbs, all black Chihuahua named Famous high post at the door, in a chair, scaring all the customers and even they Great Danes and Pits away"

    Binky Pup's name is Famous?
Did you mention that before? I will continue to call Famous~the Binky Pup because of that photo. Even though BP looks bad as hell in the photo!:-)

My late mother in law loved those little bad ass doggies! They are little mofo's for sure!:-) They have a lot of heart!

Actually they are used to hunt. They take them out in packs and let 'em loose.
I read this in a book a long time ago. Who knew?

I am waiting for the pix with the white tee.

  33. Torrance: Are you sure you don't want to at least be an ADJUNCT PROFESSOR of entrepreneurship?

I went to grad school at the place with the #1 entrepreneurship program in the USA but I was smart enough to stick with finance and prob/stat/ops-research and leave the bullshit entrepreneurship classes alone because I KNEW I wouldn't be getting your top 10. Your top 10, I had to figure out by getting in there and doing it.

    10) We're all human. We need endorphins and proper dopamine levels to free our minds to create and to relax. Our children need to be SAFE.

    9) We always need WORK-AROUNDS

    8) We need to know how safe WE are

    7) Biggest boxing bettor in the world told me: BE CAREFUL IN THE CLINCHES!

    6) See #1

    5) Indeed. But it's what happens afterwards that counts. Right now, at least half anti-correlated with USD

    4) Agree, but I also see potential for Africa North of Sahara and Haiti/DomRep long term. Still tough from a personal moral standpoint to deal with Nigeria, though but if you're doing business with China, it's kind of in-for-a-penny-in-for-a-pound, no?

    3) Many ways to SCARE a cat

    2) See #7 and #1...A man is just a man is just a man

    1) WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT. YOU MEASURE YOURSELF BY WHAT YOU PUT ASIDE FOR YOUR SEEDS. AND YOU GET THOSE SEEDS READY IN AN AGE-APPROPRIATE WAY CONTINUOUSLY

    3

    4)

  38. So glad to see somebody else who gets the entrepreneurial thang. The fact that you have the education and still understand the fact that we can't rely on corporate gigs, should make this crystal clear for those who don't "get it". But, some of us are conditioned into inaction.

In a way, school only teaches us to fit in, to join the maze and that without the maze, we are unable to sustain ourselves - I think not.

Love the top 10, especially #1!!

I'm pulling for you and if ever in ATL, even though I don't own a dog, will be sure to drop by and support a brotha in biz for himself.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm with you on the business tip, dawg!! That small matter of capital (or relative lack of it) has kind of gotten in thw I'm starting a gig in small corporate america this week. (shudder).

And that groove you got playin' is slammin'!! That is some nice stuff!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. My bad, I meant to say lack of capital has gotten in the way of us starting our bizness. It will happen one day.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I too own and run my own business. My biggest perk right now is growing my beard. I know that's stupid but after spending so much time in corporate places to see what I look like makes me laugh a bit.

The other thing is the stress relief. I am glad I don't depend on anyone for anything. I only interact with the public on my terms. I don't worry about the BS politics and racism that comes with working under someone else.

But the biggest thing is that I own it. I made it with my hands and that gives me such a sense of pride that I wish other people would open their own business. Just so they can feel what I feel everyday.

  42. Thanks for rollin' old Profunksticated. I'll do u likewise, dawg.

  50. the days as a worker bee in an office has been long gone for me my brotha.

i support anyone, especially my brothas and sistas, that venture off and start up businesses of their own. i think that is definitely needed in our community and there definitely needs to be more entrepreneurs in the black community. this is quite possibly the only way to keep the dollar value strong in our communities. black-owned is best; but it has to be done legitimately no doubt.

good to see another brotha trying to make his mark in the business world.
