I was always taught as a child that as an African American man, I had to be ten times tighter than the average person. I was taught that due to my completion, I would be judged unfairly and have close attention focused on me. As a result, I was instructed to exercise due diligence or what a reasonable person after knowing the previous, should take before doing anything with another party.

Speculation tells me that such never dawned or was ever told to Michael Vick. To date, Vick faces two federal indictments on alleged illegal dog fighting activities including but not limited to training pit bulls for competitive dog fighting and doing such across state lines. First it is stupid not knowing what activities are occurring in properties one owns. Even before that, not knowing the differences in such laws from state to state for engaging in a knowingly illegal activity. Then there are some states unlike Virginia where dog fighting is not a felonious offense.

As such he has destroyed his image and reduced substantially the loot in his pocket. I say his image is damaged for two reasons. Namely that dog fighting shows the nature of ones spirit and moral values and that it seems to be one event after another for Vick. In a court case a few years ago a former magic city dancer settled out of court under secrecy saying that he knowingly gave her Herpes. Before then, two men were found to have marijuana in pickup truck that was owned by Vick. Then there is Davon Boddie, Vick's cousin who was arrested for drug which actually led to the search of Vick's house in Va. That is allegedly a dogfighting ring called Bad Newz Kennels.

Cheers to poor decision making and not reading. And shouts out to hanging with convicted fellons and giving anyone the image that you are affiliated with destroying a dog if it doesn't have the desire to fight.

You know in Haiti, the French used to bring wild dogs from cuba to the island and toss captured hatian rebels in the pits with the dogs. Maybe that's an idea, a new blood sport, placing people (if it is true) like Mike vick in a pit with dogs and spreaying blood on them. No - just a thought, but i was real serious, for this is a lesson in what being insensate and not having due diligence can get u.

Micheal Vick IMO is not special.

He is the stereotype of a black man who has come into weatlh through sports and entertainment. Although he has been exposed to a lifestyle of luxury and oppurtuinty *insert black male celeb name here* still chooses to be ghetto - not black but ghetto. And why does he do this?.....Because he's keeping it real!!

i was recently having a conversation with a friend about this situation. interestingly enough, michael is my cousin ("uncle guy's grandson" is what my granny told me) so this doesn't surprise me at all. no, that is not to say that his behavior is exemplary of the other people (or men) in my family, but it does remind me of something.

i've always been confused whenever i hear stories of "famous" people being tied to things that other people question. i.e. "why on earth is michael vick involved with dogfighting? he's MICHAEL VICK!" but what i've come to realize (and what i was explaining to my friend) is that loyalty is a helluva drug and for some people "keepin' it real" is way more than just an overused phrase. there are some "famous" people who truly don't look at themselves as "famous." they just see themselves as "being one of the lucky ones to get out." and with that mindset, comes their idea of loyalty. because they "made it out" by sheer "luck," they have no right to turn their backs on the people who were there before this "luck" kicked in. i mean, just think about it. look at the "famous" people in trouble because of the ties they keep with their "peoples." mc hammer. pacman jones. lil kim. busta rhymes. remy ma. ray lewis.

again, in no way am i excusing or forgiving michael or anybody else who does wrong. what i am saying though is at what point do "famous" people get the discussion on "when keepin' it real goes wrong?" and how do you explain to someone that although they've made it now, craig and 'nem have to stay at home?

just a few incomplete thoughts that might equal out to two cents! :-)

if it's ok for people to kill in war why isn't it ok for dogs to fight? i mean no attorneys are going after the warmongers, are they. i know, someone will say "it's more complicated than that". hmmm....

As Ice cube would say," Point scene money gone." I think that the brother has not humbled himself and as a result has reaped the challenges and adversities that accompany ignorance.
He has definitely displayed low moral character and will undoubtedly suffer as the result of arrogance. And like the army says,"A mind is a terrible thing to watse."

Innocent until proven Guilty.....
But Mike Vick is young and stupid he thinks because is so gifted now that he can do anything without suffering the consequences....Did you hear him as he walked away... "The fans love me. They'll always love me. It's all good!"

His imaturity, arrongance, and stupidity is what bring him down unless he wises up, but then he is what he is.

Although I'm a SAINTS fan, I do like Mike as a player and everytime the Falcons are not playing the Saints thats who I rally for.

Good luck stupid............

i will reserve too many comments until i find out how much knowledge he actually has of the events. I must say it's not looking too good for him, yet I also know that the media has a way of giving us only a portion of the truth to make us see what it wants to see.

time will tell and I hope it is a fair and honest story indeed.

peace

I can only hope that Vick gets it together. They say it's never to late.

Take care.
