dickhead

I consider myself and equal opportunity offender. Not that such is my attention (not intention) , but it is rather likely that what ever I write, type or say will offend some one. Politically, this is true for black folks, white folks, gays, republicans and democrats. However, I have never seemed to offend thinking minded folks who are objective and take side with information as opposed to a person (as many of the current Obama supporters do this day).

But like I say I call it as I read it. Didn’t see Former Vice President Dick Cheney’s address to the National Press Club but I did read the transcript. Like wise with respect to the President’s address in Egypt. But the latter is not important, I just want to straighten out some things regarding why I consider politicians as not being honest and trustworthy. True, I think the love America, but at times I cannot tell if they love it equally as more as they enjoy capitalism, avarice or fame.

I can astutely suggest this with respect to Dick Cheney. First it is obvious that he is talking out the side of his neck and unlike me, who attacks the policy positions of all Presidential administrations; he is attacking the man and the party. In his recent address to the National Press club, the former Vice President said that “We had a lot of blind spots after the attacks on our country, things we didn't know about al-Qaida. We didn't know about al-Qaida's plans.”

Blind, more like ill informed and even when they had the information they ignored it. Can say at least the current administration tries to stay informed. He added that “the broad-based strategy set in motion by President Bush obviously had nothing to do with causing the events of 9/11. But the serious way we dealt with terrorists from then on, and all the intelligence we gathered in that time, had everything to do with preventing another 9/11 on our watch.” Cheney even passed the buck saying “You know, Dick Clarke. Dick Clarke, who was the head of the counterrorism program in the run-up to 9/11. He obviously missed it. The fact is that we did what we felt we had to do, and if I had to do it all over again, I would do exactly the same thing.”

Dick Cheney has spoken about Obama relentlessly. But this is the man who said that Sadaam Hussein and Al queida were connected at the hip when we knew, even before the Bush administration took office, that there was no meaningful relationship between Sadaam Hussein and Al queida with respect to 911 at least. I mean the former head of the Counter terrorism program, Richard Clarke begged Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for an” urgently" high-level National Security Council review on al-Qaeda via memo on January 25, 2001. But as we know he was refused and Vice President Cheney states that he does not recall, suggesting to me he as Vice President did not think it was a threat or important to be informed about terrorist – a claim that he currently directs toward Obama.

In addition, Clarke, on September 4, 2001, warned the administration, via memo of information regarding plans of an attack by al-Qaeda in a memo in which he wrote” ''to imagine a day after a terrorist attack, with hundreds of Americans dead at home and abroad, and ask themselves what they could have done better.''

Dick Cheney is one of the problems with politics. They don’t read shit, depend on experts to formulate policy, yet don’t have the time to read what said experts place on their desk. I don’t mind talking about policy, but it is disingenuous for this man to when he slept on the job and got us in the mess. Obama can't help if he better informed and smarter than Cheney, its just a fact. I just want to ask him, in the words of Kate Nash, “why are you such a dickhead?”

Maybe he's trying to promote a book deal. Seems that's all he can do now.

As Sista GP has stated, it sounds like this is rhetoric he's proposing for his impending book to be released. He's trying to make claim to information, lies & perceptions before the whole world, & as most Republican's have done, he's using his busted snowglobe as his fortune teller ball...

Anywho, Cheney is clearly stepping up to the place, taking his aim & missing his mark... Obama is not scathed by his incorrect accusations and child like tantrums... Obama has been ducking and dodging GOP bullets since before he was nominated & he will continue to have these lil'nerf arrows at him (not saying that Obama is 100% correct at all times, however, when someone attacks you along with your policies, then hey... its game on).

Cheney is pissed, the GOP is pissed... For whatever, Obama the Super Negro isn't fading, he isn't looking like that Angry Negro that they've grown accustomed to, he's beating them at their own game... and they will continue to come after them until they've run their party into the ground...

Dick needs to man up... which is... he needs to write his damn book & then fade to black... his administration is no longer in office and from all indication his administration wasn't even in office then... Bush was always at his Crawford Ranch, Cheney was out shooting father time look-a-like attorney's in their face... He really needs to just make peace with his failures... leave Obama alone and get on with what he has left of a life...

Torrance: The whole thing is just too weird. It really is. Cheney is a monster. A war criminal pure and simple. Why Obama wants to protect him and is causing Sheldon Whitehouse drama for wanting to hold CHENEY accountable for his actions is the part that doesn't make any sense at all.

But it does make sense, doesn't it? It's 1-party system. No matter whom you vote for the government always wins.

Each wing of the government party has a different way of doing things. Republicans=Unfriendly Fascists. Democrats=Friendly Fascists.

That's not to say there aren't honorable public servants in both wings of the government party. There are. The Republican wing has a strict ideological purity test that involves maximum bigotry, maximum religion whether you like or not, maximum authoritarian control. Any Republican who thinks for himself or herself can either switch parties or get no money.

The Democrats have similar policies of control but they're weak so they just ignore the voices of dissent in their party. Sure the leadership will carry on like it's so great that "we" won two more House Seats In Colonial Williamsburg Virginia, but who the fuck cares?

Neither party but for the few free-thinkers have a clue about economics. The mainstream of both parties are super interest in war, though.

Ask a Republican for an opinion that makes sense on economic or foreign policy and their answer is "Obama is a socialist" and "WE MUST KILL MUSLIMS"

Ask a Democrat for an opinion that makes sense on economic or foreign policy and their answer is "I don't care about that. The president is a peaceful man with a peaceful plan for prosperity." The plan, in specifics, they don't tell you. There is no plan. Only the same old shit: no rules, no respect for personal freedom, PEACE THROUGH WAR AND IMPRISONMENT OF CHILDREN.

They don't have ideological tests so much as personal purity tests. Jesse Jackson is out of favor with Obama so every issue that interests him the administration takes the other side. Rahm Emmanuel hates Howard Dean so every of Dean's issues are anti-adminsitration policy. They don't use racist language but it's still just intra-Beltway people grinding little axes.

Republicans enjoy showing their hatred. Democrats are wholly indifferet to the peoples' needs but their nice about it.

I know that I'm getting different news in the papers down here. That's for sure.

If I had my way Cheney would have been up on war crimes long ago and treason or sedition now, but I doubt that the man could get a ticket for double parking let alone anything serious.

Anyway, I remember last year when Bush and Rice and maybe others were asked if the Bush Administration would be looked at as a failure and they both said that that would be up to history and how people looked back. That's because they both knew that history lies somewhere between the truth and the bullshit propaganda that people want you to believe. Dick Cheney is just acting like the hatchet man that he's been for the last 8 years and making sure that history is going to be written his way and the way that his boss wants to see it.

Right in thru here Chaney is about the business of defending HIS administration for the past 8 years. He's also really pissed off with Dubya who showed he'd grew a couple of small ones towards the end when the two of them locked heads - FINALLY!

I don't think his rhetoric has much - if anything - to do with his impending book deal. He'd make millions regardless, so there is not really a need for him to go forth and spew the rhetoric. I think its much larger than that.

Could be alot of things. He could be trying to help launch a political career for his daughter or could be trying to state his case in the court of public opinion just in case Holder and company make a strong case to the prez for an indictment. I dunno - but, it surely ain't about a book. Chaney ain't never been that shallow.

I never considered the former administration to be one of the more intelligent groupings to occupy the Oval Office. How many times has the script been flipped on this story already?

It seems that that is what a lot of politicians do -- just listen to what others say without really knowing what is going on for themselves.
