Twack Head

A long time ago I got a clandestine copy of a book out of print called the HAND BOOK OF CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL WARFARE. The Book had been out of print some while since I saw it and in fact was outlawed. The copy I have is a photocopied version and it details all of the secret experiments of the military and intelligence branches of the government. One section I recant vividly were the experiments on mind control.

Based on this history it would not surprise me that the former had some part in creating the most recent mind altering drug – twitter. Yes I would like to assert that twitter may be a military creation for the purpose of serf mind control. Yes I would like to advance that twitter is addictive and that its users, not all but most, exhibit the same behaviors as substance abusers.

There are several occurrences that I have noticed, not including the manner in which hash mark trends are established. The first is that there seems to be a strange phenomenon of folks following folks they don’t know, namely celebrities and musicians. Unlike most, I follow all folk on twitter instead of the folks i follow and chk my at replies every now and then. You can find some great links and info that way. However, I personally don’t follow them, nor folk that don’t evince the home training of speaking when spoken too. In fact I have a 72 hour grace period before I delete folks I speak to who don’t speak back. This means that there is also a large number of so-called groupies on twitter – men and women who follow and speak to these people as if they actually have contact. Chances are if women, and scantly dressed, they will have a better chance of getting a response from a well known celebrity than a male.

I originally got on to meet fellow bloggers and to micro-blog my post. Now I seem to speak to folk and make my self laugh by making others laugh. I have met bloggers but I have met only one fellow scientist and just a few lawyers, none of which are African American males. Seems that the males I meet are all want to be rappers, producers and Dj’s. As if that is all we can or desire to be. Now its nothing wrong with that, however incessant twits about the beats they make and how much money they have can be annoying. I mean I could listen to 97.5 for mind numbing nonsense. Now its cool to promote shows and other events, for I try to push my writings and books every time I get. But I admit I am a lame and not addicted. I have just as much fun changing my avatar as tweeting and don’t have twitter on my blackberry as most do. Nor do I use a twitter platform to be a more effective tweet and don’t even go online when I’m home.

I have even noticed that folks say twitter is dull, or boring or lame at times in the same manner they would say some weed was bunk or wack. But they continue to tweet as they would smoke that blunt of wack weed. Just like the way mindless birds in a flock communicate by tweets - which this application is named after off. So my fellow tweeps, I say take control for if you aint know, twitter the new crack cause more folk on twitter than smoking them rocks. Besides you don’t want to be known as a twack head.

You know how much I do not tweet even though I have an account. I think that there is such a thing as TMI. And there are some folks who definitely fit into that box.

It can be a useful tool to get in touch with folks or to share info. But there are those who want to share too much of their lives.

aren't you the pot calling the kettle black!

in my humble opinion twitter is what you make it, and you seem to tweet about allot of things that have more to do with making women blush than science or law.

Well you already know how I feel about Twitter and all the NitTwits.

I know you're not talking...Dr. Myspace, Facebook, Blogger, & Twitter...!!!! Yea, I've seen the pages (even the naughty ones on Myspace...I used to be friends with you).

Anyways, LOL, I hope all is well.

I agree with msladydeborah. Twitter is what you make it. I don't follow people who don't have anything of subtance and I find myself using twitter less and less mainly because as with anything that is new. The new car smell has waned.

I equate my current experience with Twitter kind of like when you're a kid at christmas and you get all these cool things and then you stop playing with them like a few weeks later. And then you totally forget about them...

I'm not big on following celebrities because I could care less what they have to say or do. They have more money than the average person will ever make in life yet still bitch moan and complain about how unfair they're being treated. Blah blah!

Twitter seems to be geared towards people with short attention spans hence the need to constantly tweet throughout the day. And it's funny watching folks tweet on their cellphones. I only have a cellphone for the "just in case" and I speak enough on the phone at work I usually dump my phone in a drawer on my off days..!

But that's just my 10 cents...

Never got into twitter at all. I don't even have an id. I'm just starting to use Facebook more since more folks from my highschool have been hitting me up.

Basically, I don't really care for social networking. I think it's pretentious to act like you down with someone you don't know or at one point didn't pay much attention to.

I think I know plenty of twack heads...

why do I need to follow you on twitter when I have your business and personal email addresses and phone numbers?

Why do I want to see what you have to say to random people I don 't know? and why do I need other folks following my conversation with you.

I don't see the point.

I'd say that I tweet a couple of times a day, sometimes more in a day depending on how bored I am. I cannot understand why people follow celebrities, they don't reply back and they most certainly aren't worried about us common folk *sigh*.

I am inclined to agree with you...I am on Twitter but I just can't quite get into it. I have friends who indeed are like crack addicts when it comes to Twitter. At least with Facebook, I feel like there is a real exchange going on with folks I know.

I used to get onto Twitter a lot more than I do now and Twitter is actually how I came to run across Raw Dawg Buffalo in the first place and it exposed me to a lot of interesting bloggers. Unlike some others, I don't have thousands of people I follow and actually only have a few that I actually find interesting. I must say that it is hilarious to Tweet while doing something like watching the lame ass BET awards or Grammys or something like that. Way more interesting to see what folks have to say than it is actually watching the show.

I scoffed at Twitter, now I'm pretty much a "Twack Head"...and don't mind admitting it. I canceled TV a few months back, and quite honestly now find out news in a more non-biased and MUCH faster way on Twitter (from folks I choose to follow, who I "trust" in such matters) than I would have in the mainstream media.

As others have said, Twitter IS what you make of it. Do some folks tweet about what they're eating/doing? Yup. But more importantly others tweet about causes, vigils, protests on subjects which matter to me. Do I find both useful at different times for different reasons? Yes.

I do follow a few "celebs", but they're the ones active in causes I believe in, or are media folks (Ana Marie Cox, Melissa Harris-Lacewell, Rachel Maddow, Joan Walsh, etc...) whose viewpoints and insight matter to me. I've also run across some FABULOUS "regular" folks I know I'd spend time with "in real life" if they were in my neck of the woods.

For me it's about a quick and easy way to find out what's going on in the "bigger" world (politics/breaking news/equality) and also in the "smaller" world of my friends and community.

So, Mr. Torrance, wanna tell a gal what your Twitter account name is?? Are you brave enough? ;)

rdb, you wrote:

"The Book had been out of print some while since I saw it and in fact was OUTLAWED."

Why does anyone believe a published text can be OUTLAWED? This does NOT happen.

Reports detailing scientific research are often secret. That's different. Research results are often private property or government secrets. But once the cat is let out of the bag, there's no chance of putting it back in.

Undoubtedly there are copies of this book in the libraries of every university with a science department. The following from Amazon says the book is available for overnight delivery.

You have OVER 50,000 tweets/updates and you have the nerve to talk about people being addicted lmao. I have never seen ANYONE with that many tweets the closes I've seen in like 35,000(but I don't really check for celebs so maybe some of them have more). You're the one that's addicted lol.
