A measure of wheat for a penny

Now Obama, he cool with me, he like a jones I grew up with next door. But I do see the continuation of the same from past politicians. This is their tendency to speak for the common man but only implement policy for big corporate interest. All I am saying is I wish him no harm, but I will call it like I see it. Personally, I think folk got half yawl jones faded. It seems as if Yawl don’t pay attention to nothing folk say but rather just suck his balls and lick his shoes like five year old Bloodhound.

I know it is bad now, but things are really about to hit the fan. These days it seem as if nothing is safe and even worse that the political machine in Washington is making it all worse. From anthrax on lettuce, to the economy and to disease, it aint looking to good for the United States of America, and the world for that matter. The way it appears, the country is no longer we the people but rather we the corporation. I just wonder who said that saving big banks on Wall street and saving the jobs of the folks who work with the big three auto industries are more important than all the other folks around the country who losing their jobs? It is as if the President is doing all he can to give the remaining 20 percent of the GOP ammunition to make him a big target. Just as it seems as if he is doing and more concerned with the same interest of the GOP also – big business. Not to mention right wing extremist done lost they fckn minds.

Now I’m no pagan, but I am well versed in text such as the Koran, the teachings of Buddha and the Bible. In Rev. 6:6, there is a passage that describes the direness of circumstances the world will face prior to the tribulations. It says A measure of wheat for a penny. It was part of the prophecy of the six seals. In biblical theory, the seals represent problems due to war and famine and the self-defeating character of sin in the form of the world's self-inflicted judgment upon itself – the terrible effects of man. I say this because it seems as if what Obama did Just last week, when he gave his economic speech at Georgetown University, and his staff asked and obtained permission to cover up a monogram symbolizing Jesus' name in Gaston Hall can represent the fifth seal (Souls Under the Altar).

Then there are all of these Earthquakes around the world and in place here like Georgia and Texas. China is calling for a new global currency controlled by the International Monetary Fund Coupled with depleted water supplies and even poisons and drugs in said water, just makes one think, and understand how some may consider that the new commander in chief is the anti-Christ, I don’t but I have actually been in conversation with some that do.

Yeas the signs of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, the six seals (false peace, war, food control and Famines, disease and pestilence, hell on earth). Never before have I seen such hardship. Just yesterday the dude around the corner from me went out of business, as well as another salon down the street. On the same day. Today I see for lease signs in the window. Never before have I seen the homeless and beggars saying “I’ll take your pennies if you have them.” Yes, a measure of wheat for a penny – maybe soon to come

Monkey in the middle

I have repeated on inordinate occasions that I see no difference between democrats or the GOP. In my defense, I have asked for proof with regards to policy, affect and impact on problem solving and/or saying what they do. To this date no one has accepted this challenge and those that do tend to assert America is a democracy when I ask, as opposed to KNOWING it is a republic.

Now, as the typical Washington inside machine operates, it reared its selfish and good old folk head again. The U.S. Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama was appointed by Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich to the former attorney general of Illinois Roland Burris. When Jones got to Washington, The Senate good old boys told folk he was not accepted (his credentials were not in order). He was refused entry to the Senate based on them citing Article 1, Section 5 of the U.S. Constitution, which states "Each house shall be the judge of the elections, returns and qualifications of its own members."

In two words – bull shit. This is purely political, blocking the appointment of one man because they dislike the other. And I tell ya if as many black folks who followed Beyoncee would follow this the same way, these folk in Washington would have a lot of noise back home in their districts. I was optimistic that Obama meant what he said, and would do accordingly. But I am slowly becoming disillusioned. He spoke of change, and not having the “good old boy” network of “Washington Insiders” in his administration – yet he does. I won’t even get on the usual talk of tax reduction, war ending and other stuff that all democrats and republicans chant like some Taoist mantra.

The situation with Burris is ridiculous and shows us how theatrical politic inside the beltway are. If I know the signature from the Illinois Secretary of State is not required but rather ceremonial, then they should too. Blagojevich legally appointed Burris to the seat vacated by President-Elect Obama. Now I don’t really give a care about Senate appointee Jones one way or the other, but I do care about the right of the Illinois citizenry. That's some of the dumbist shit I done seen in recent times. I mean they give more attention to this than the economy, the decline of the dollar, a non-existant manufacturing base, despots like the former NASDAQ Chairman (Madoff) or education.

As it stands, seems as if the Senate is reminiscent of a bunch of kids on the little rascals refusing another kid into the he man woman hatters club, or not letting a kid play with them because he friends with another kid they don’t like. Go pick on the kid you don’t like, Senator Burris aint done nothing wrong and should not be treated as if he is the governor. That man is 71 years old and you holding the ball over his head, and passing the buck like he a monkey in the middle.

Point of order: told yawl I could write a post about Beyoncee.

Mutha fuca please

I will be going on a brief hiatus from politics and the economy, or at least I think I am and that I will try my best. But seeing that it is very improbably that jones here will serve as some ones campaign advisor, better yet, the chief of staff; or will never ever be the president up in this camp, I got a few thangs I want to say about what I want to here from Obama and McCain and Nader, and McKinney, and Baldwin and Barr. So please preface the following statements with mutha fuca please:

  • Talk about the national debt
  • Talk about prosecuting the folk on Wall Street
  • Talk about eliminating penalties associated with capital gains, if one desires to use money from 401Ks or stocks that they liquidate from their portfolios if the have hardship or use the cash to start a business
  • Talk about regular jones the same way you talk about corporate jones
  • Talk about how we loose so much human capital via prison and the prison industrial complex and how you would treat drug use as a health issue and not a crime.
  • Talk about helping to engender small business growth and reinvigorating the manufacturing sector.
  • Talk about how you will increase the value of the dollar
  • Talk about screening for the best teachers and paying them as if they are the best and connect education to the collective economic well being of America
  • Talk about freezing the rise in pay for senators and congressmen and the need for them not to give themselves a pay raise every 6 months
  • Talk about why the lower and middle class folks can’t and don’t have good paying jobs or afford homes and what you plan to do to fix that.
Yawl need to ask the folks some serious questions jones and keep the kats on point. Whew, I'm Ghost.

open thread (8.29.08)

Did Obama do enough to win? Did his speech convert any of the 20% I have spoke of previously or was he preaching to the choir?

Note: Will add music on weekends only - too much work.

GG or Jacob the Jeweler

Just as the next individual, I enjoy stacking a little change when I can. This is America, home of greed and avarice. It would only then make sense to me that wealth accumulation should be something we focus on a little more as opposed to buying and spending and shopping. But I am troubled by the spend all and save nothing mentality. This is no more evident than in the entertainment industry. This includes musicians, actors, athletes and don’t forget politicians.

Now there is nothing wrong with flossing’, whether you have it or not. But I think there is a bigger picture we need to conquer. What value should be taught to those we know and love the most from our community? I’m not cheap, but I am frugal, and so I make 6 figures annually, I have been able to save twice that on behalf of my children in their names and not mine.

The issue for me is why does, or how necessary is it for a person to have several watches worth anywhere between 25 to 100 stacks? Regardless if one has the money or not, how much time can one tell?

With $25,000, a person can buy about 6850 shares of Occulogix Inc (RHEO). At 3.65 a share, if it doubles, that will be more than 50,000 and such stocks can double in a few months. Or better yet, $100,000 can get you 1992 shares of Goldcorp Inc New (GG) out of Canada and 1034 shares of ING: Russia; A (LETRX).

Now this is not to down Mr. Jacob the Jeweler. After all, if I had been in a family of Jewelers, I’d use my craft to take advantage of plebeians that desire jewelry that valued more than 100 thousand stacks also. But in this age of multi-millionaires going broke after a few years on the job – especially rappers and athletes, it is my duty to suggest other alternatives than buying a bevy of Sierra Leone diamond laced watches.

I’m just mad that my folks are not taking advantage of the system as others have put in place. Dick Cheney know the deal – become vice President and get your company free welfare I mean military contracts and take your pay check and invest it in stocks, real- estate, and precious metals. So the next time you want to get your child or your wife some jewelry, get her a 1000 shares of Gilead Sciences Inc (GILD) – the only folks that make the bird flu vaccine and watch her smile after 6 months, when she doubles her money, gets that necklace and have some chump change in her pocket too.
