Universal Nincompoops

Wanted to thank all yawl for the kind words and support via last post. Now back to our regular scheduled programming. I love to make fun of stuff; I mean Satire is in my blood. I have always looked to the works of folk like Miguel de Cervantes and the greatest satirist of all from my purview – Voltaire. I even like some of the modern cats including but not limited to Dave Chappelle, Aaron McGruder , Jon Stewart, and Mel Brooks and don’t add SouthPark.

Through satire, me as a writer, is in a position to holds prevailing vices up to ridicule via the employment of wit and humor such to criticize any institution or individual – hopefully in an attempt that they might be improved. However, it appears that even satire is not safe from the fangs of political correctness and the new world order.

The United Nations committee has passed a “defamation of religions” resolution that seems to over ride the significance of free speech and the freedom of expression. For some reason, it seems that the UN doesn’t see that such expression is a right and freedom connected directly with individual thought, conscience and belief, and seems to miss the point that as an international body, that they should first proceed to protect people in exercising their freedom of religion, versus the singular protection of religions.

This single resolution says that satire is nothing more than defamation of religion and even Blasphemy. Blasphemy, like you can actually defame a thought or idea or even something that may be true. The main sponsors of the resolution are predominantly Muslim nations. This is the 4th year in a row in which the resolution has been approved. Do they know that folks like me or the writers of South Park, if ever in them countries, by the UN understanding, these got the places to arrest me and even put me to death, just cause I make fun of say, the Pope, or George Bush, or Christianity, or Islamic fanatics or even a monarch (by the way, the King of Saudi is supposed to be equal to a God). Guess talking about them off limits.

Satire is what keeps folks honest. It’s called humor, and the main outcomes are a smile or a laugh. I guess I will be held for I see the UN stands for Universal Nincompoops more so than United Nations and for all them Islamic Nations pushing this – suck a dic*. And while I'm at it throw on a vfew more years to my sentence for the terrorist should have flown planes into the UN. Now that is satire. Blaspheme that.

We cannot control other people, not even children.Shit.....we do what we can to instill various characterics and try to modifiy their behavior to make them productive people. Yea.we do that. Without humor, we might as well be a nation of Tricky Dicks. Wait, I think he laughed once. Plus there was the whole Laugh-In thing.

I hate sounding even anything like a wingnut, but if you can't hack your god getting verbally smacked around now and then, then your faith ain't all that strong in the first place.

I can't always follow your intellectual train of thought, but on this one - I'm with you.

Freedom of speech and the right to make fun (without abuse) of everyone and anyone we want is the way it should be.

Some of the shit people do is fucking ridiculous and they know it. Clearly, every US comic and artist should be taking this opportunity to make fun of the UN.

The UN and their "rules" can kick rocks.

...that they should first proceed to protect people in exercising their freedom of religion, versus the singular protection of religions.

This is a poignant distinction in the discussion of "freedom of religion". In America, for example, this right is inextricably linked through the 1st Amendment to one's right to SAY or WRITE whatever one wants to say or write with respect to those expressions or anything else (for that matter) -- and to assemble to do it in a crowd, if one so desires. It does not set out to protect religions from criticism or ridicule even. I'd be SO locked up if were, by the way.

You know Satire has been around since the dawn, when man started thinking beyond survival. It is reflected in caves in France and graffito in side valleys of the kings in Egypt. It serves a very useful purpose and is something I love and look forward to.

That is hypocritical, by protecting religion from critque you are oppressing the voices of others, never mind that religion unchecked will give BS like Waco Texas, 9/11, and most man made atrocities.

2nd - this post made me reflect back on the Confucius where he credited with saying: "There is the love of being benevolent without the love of learning, the beclouding here leads to a foolish simplicity; There is the love of knowing without the love of learning, the beclouding here leads to dissipation of mind; There is the love of being sincere without the love of learning, the beclouding here leads to an injurious disregard of consequences."

That's funny as shit.

Stumbling across your blog was wonderful. I entirely agree with your thoughts in this post. Not to mention, your ending made me laugh. I couldn't stand something like that. The mind is a beautiful thing, and not being able to think or speak the way that you feel - is such a waste, and a pity.

I feel a liberal bias coming over me.

You see that's what makes you an American or at least a westerner. The freedom of speech and ideas and the ability to worship or not worship whomever you want. That's your right. But 500 years ago, no matter where you lived if you said the same things about the Pope as you say now, or the head of any other religious society, you would have been burned at the stake as a heretic if not worse. And that is the state that much of the world is still in today.

Are you saying that we should ignore it and place our own ideas ahead of others, kind of like how Bush has pushed for freedom and democracy in the Middle at no matter what the cost? I don't think so.

The United Nations is not about putting down absolutes where we have to fall into place lock stock and barrel, but it is a place where we can all come together and learn to converse about our differences. Hence that resolution has been discussed every year and voted on every year. Maybe one year it will be discussed and the majority of nations will vote against it because they are now part of the world that lives in the 21st century.

I have no idea where idealism about the UN comes from. Diplomats from around the world convene in NY City, mainly to criticize the US and Israel while advancing their plans for the expansion of tyranny.

The UN is an island unto itself in many ways. Even when it comes to simple everday matters.

For example, the UN Building is the only office building in NY State in which people can smoke. In other words, the NY Fire Department, the Environmental Protection Agency and the City of New York are powerless to enforce a simple sane law that is good for everyone. Why? Because the UN operates on its own little planet, both literally and figuratively.

The smoking issue is, of course, standard for UN action. What else can explain Cuba's presence on the UN Human Rights Panel?

Is it news that muslims want to eliminate Free Speech? Like terrorism, the assault on Free Speech is primarily conducted by muslims. They riot and kill people when muhammad is lampooned in cartoons. They riot and kill movie-makers (Theo van Gogh) who make movies depicting the virtual enslavement of muslim women.

If they were to fail to attack Free Speech at the UN, they would evidence failure in their roles as muslims. Of course, if muslims have a talent, it is the talent for failure. Everything about muslim existence is a failure.

Unfortunately, muslims want everyone else to suffer the same indignities and miseries with them. All it takes is blind adherence to a religion that is devoted to failure.

The madness of muslims is always at work. It's everywhere. Not just at the UN. They want to restrict Free Speech everywhere in America. It's most evident on college campuses, where they seek legal remedies for critical commentaries appearing in campus newspapers.

Things get worse in Middle East Studies Departments, where muslim zealots are often given teaching positions. Sammi al-Arian, at the University of Florida was one. I think he's now in jail for organizing fund-raising operations to support terrorists.

Anyway, students are pressed to accept the muslim view of the middle east, which means denial of the state of Israel and the belief that muslims have the right to kill non-muslims.

The most remarkable aspect of the recent episode in which the Bush-hating journalist threw two shoes at him in Baghdad is this: Had the shoe thrower tossed his footwear at Saddam Hussein, he and his family would most likely have died torturous deaths within a few days.

Instead, this clown is a folk hero. In other words, this clown enjoyed his new right to Free Expression without risking death, and a lot of other muslims are now enjoying the same freedom.

Can they handle it?

Are muslims capable of living in a world where some people have the Right to Say Anything? Express Freely?

Tough call. But the freeing of Iraq may start them on that path. HOwever, muslims have an unnatural affinity for failure. If they embrace Freedom and all its ramifications, they may find they hate themselves for the thoughts they have. In which case they will hate their Freedom and label it the cause of their inability to rise from their misery.

About two days after 9/11 I was in a coffee shop in a Pakistani community here in Brooklyn. One Pakistani told me that the reason 9/11 occurred was the fault of Americans. He said it happened because we have too much Freedom here.

This is really a moot point isn't it. How can this be enforced?

All someone needed to do was to get the key UN voters some broads, some flake, and passes to a comedy show.

I'm crying a river for Islamic extremists and Orthodox Jewish extremists who bring misery and instability to the world every day but can't abide the spoken word's most powerful tool of peaceful social change.

Fuck you all. You deserve your misery.

"...to hold prevailing vices up to ridicule via the employment of wit and humor such to criticize any institution or individual – hopefully in an attempt that they might be improved."

i just like the way this was worded. and yeah..definitely would like to see the changes but of course without the sacrifice of the satire. somehow they'd have to exist simultaneously. (the satire and reformation) it's just too good to do away with completely. and it's probably sad that it's become that way, but hey...
