of Bushes,Turks & the Taliban

Jones main, it’s on. The news has not even made it yet but it appears as if the fragile whatever you call it we put up in Iraq to represent a government has officially dissolved. You see, while most of us up in this camp were sleeping last night, the Turks were sending warplanes over into Iraq to bomb the Kurds. I suspect they were targeting a political group called the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). The Turks have outlawed the group, but it seems kind of feculent to outlaw an organization in another country, which operates basically autonomously. The say these raid were some 60 miles into Iraq.

Meanwhile on the otherwise of the field (it is football season), all I read about Afghanistan' from this side of the block, is that we are winning the battle, that more and more Taliban fighters are being killed and that each day we work with or favorite Dictator in Pakistan to make progress in terror (that is if progress includes more videos circulating in Pakistan that show 12 year olds beheading a Pakistani's accused of being U.S. spys). The Taliban is always executing and beheading folks who they claim to be spys for the US, we just never see it on TV unless the spies are actual US citizens. I mean Bush and the US media obviiously think that it take four such acts or more to equal one US life. But at the same time, Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai is asking for more help to develope his armed forces.

Well I guess the Bush administration has some good news to report by their standards, after all the aforementioned and said dictator, just lifted the emergence rule he just placed over his country because they would not vote for him (during a period in which HE amended the country's constitution). At least we can be thankful hat George W. Bush isn’t a general, no telling what he would have done by now.

Torrance,

I read about the bombing this morning on the BBC news website. I didn't hear anything about it on corporate news ABC or CBS this morning.

I think that there is a lot going on between the Turks and the Kurds that we never hear about.

I also think that the only way for peace in Iraq is to divide it in 3. The kurds, Shi'a and Sunni are not going to peacfully co-exsist.

Thanks

Do we ever get the full story? Hell no especially if it's against our interests. That's why folk gotta catch international press. I don't trust half the shit i read/hear in the news in regards to the Iraq situation.
Thanks for the vocab lesson. feculent. I gotta use that sometime.

oh and the song i was thinking of was George Michael-Careless Whisper

Well I predicted this all seven years ago based on experiences this country had with the Korean and Vietnam wars. I'm not surprised by any of this. As big as we are, we don't have the power or passion to regulate civil wars, there's a deep hatred that exist between many of these ethnic groups, and many of them are more similar than they are different.

I don't think three states will be the best solution either. Extreme groups from each tribe think the other tribes shouldn't exist at all. Those extremist will constantly attack and push the borders in an attempt to exterminate the other groups.

I like watching BBC news as well, you get more stories on the Iraq war than here in the states.

Bush would have probably been weeded out a long, long time ago. Either that or he would have nuclear bomb'd Iraq, by now. You know Saadam tried to "kill my father." lol

Anyways, I hate to hear Bush and his goons repeatedly say that the USA is winning the war or terror(ism), because he's asking the american people to buy into a war against an invisible entity.

And the bad thing about it is -- we bought it.

Well, the ones who once again voted for him bought it. Fear is a mugg.

Viewing the news via international press IS needed in order to even come close to having a clue as to what is REALLY going on in the world. Most US media outlets, and ESPECIALLY the BS that comes out of the White House, are NOT the way to feel/be enlightened.

Honestly, I still feel like I'm in the middle of a horrible nightmare (namely George W. Bush) and will wake up to realize America wasn't that stupid after all to have voted for the man not only once, but TWICE! Getting us into the Iraq mess was bad enough, but you can't tell me that we won't be doing the same with Iran before GWB is out of office. And this "war against terrorism" is like that whack-a-mole game; each time you whack one, another pops up. Someone wake me when this nightmare is over.

Because I rarely watch the news or read the newspapers, I have to rely on you to stay informed.

Thanks for the update on the worlds activities, but anything that has george bush's name in or near the event simply scares me. He's successfully run amuck through the middle east; spreading his corrupt and tainted views on others. All of this carried out in the name of democracy. *sheesh*

As for those killing each other in the name of religious/political freedom have been doing that for years, so I say leave them to it. I'm sure they don't need others stepping in offering their two-cent opinions.

in the US unless we go looking for it. I tell you free speech is becoming a bigger joke with each passing day because the media refuses to exercise it with any sincerity. I watched Ann Curry Bungee jump @ 8 am why was that news and the Turks bombing not?

Americans better wake up and smell the falafel...we can't win a war when the people fighting it are not fighting us... We are in the cross hairs of a religious civil war that is not going to end because we need their oil.

Ya know what my brotha, this entire fiasco is such a conspiracy...I mean really it is! What's so crazy is that we are over here planning and preparing for terrorists attacks and no one has really taken the time to realize that the terrorists have accomplished their mission, which is to inflict fear on the American way. I mean, American's are so afraid of everything and precautions are through the roof. My girlfriend lives in Oklahoma, so with me being in D.C., I have to fly out to see her. I damn-near gotta get naked before being able to board a plane because "I" just may be a terrorist. Come on man! You see what I'm saying!? It is the FEAR of terrorism that has shook so the core. Bush have troops over there doing what!? Fighting what!? What about Bin Laden!? It's all just madness.
