just a though on Iraq

Yo check this. Albeit my foreign policy experience has been limited to running child survival, maternal health and infectious disease risk reduction in prisons, and outside of the frequently penned essay on international affairs issues regarding politic and health, I am a novice. Maybe one reason why I would not be suitable for political office – add that my salacious selection of vocabulary and my predilection for women. That aside, I have reduced the political problems of Iraq into a workable solution. True I do not live there and like the US government, neither have I consulted or requested their approval of my executive order.

I have written extensively on the current circumstance that have placed us at war, from the President, to Don Rumsfeld, Neo-cons (even though have found a neo neocon), Pakistan, Afghanistan and even other assorted variables. But truth be told, we as a country, no matter how long we stay, or how many troops we can deeply, can’t do nothing for the country, the people and the puppet government – I mean democracy we elevated in Iraq.

But If I were afforded the opportunity to use a Republic like a Monarchy this is what I would do. Given my previous failures at attempting to institute an artifact of imperialism, I would look toward the North and away from the green zone and other places I have made desolate with bombs and bullets. I would sit down with All of The Kurds, the Shiite and Sunni and talk about what was going on in that region. I would tell them that, “As a nation they now have to be self-determined. That no matter where enemies come from, this could be a start for a unified Iraq." I would advocate that they all join forces and go to war against Turkey. This would accomplish our goal. We could bring our troops home and unify the country.

In my rally cry I would add, “the North is where most of the love is, and if we can destroy your country under the guise of false stockpiles for oil, then you can unify your blood for oil and for our nation. I figure this will finally unify Iraq and start the rebuilding of a unified nation state, unfortunately like it was under their former leader.

But that why I am not a politician. I don’t know if the rest of my government would go for it, I mean giving them planes, as I did Turkey also. But it would work, and we could have all of our people home and watch out two allies in the region square off. This would be a job well done. LOL

I dunno, I feel that America should stop playing the f*cking "World's Police" and fix our own problems, Lord knows we have tons of them. Seems we are making more enemies than allies these days.

Dear God, let's not tell the Iraqis unify so that they can go attack Turkey... I don't claim to be a history buff at all, but hasn't doing stuff like giving (trading?) weapons to countries that are angry caused a lot of skirmishes/wars?

And the majority of the world simply doesn't like the US but are nice to us because we are a world super power...

Like how you hate the popular girl at school, but you'll be nice to her cause maybe you'll be popular by association or she'll give you some nuclear-grade weapons or lift that trade embargo or something...

(I know, I know... I'm being totally random. Sorry.)

Torrance,
You have tipped over toward insanity on this one.
Interesting thought, though!

All-Mi-T [Thought Crime] Rawdawgbuffalo said...

Tera - folk may not like it, but it will go a long ay to reformin their nationalistic idenity than having US GIs in the streets

Queen - we should but we aint learn nothing, we been doing this since woodrow wilson

Tayo - its ok to be random. I just say, wha can we do that they cant do themselves. e suport bot governments as it is and still aint got no oil, and they still ant got consitent utilities

All-Mi-T [Thought Crime] Rawdawgbuffalo said...

Bernice - why is it insane, we went into the war without a plan and have no plan to get out now. We want them to be unified, and that is what wars do. he already unified that they dont like the agresive occupying US force - their words not mine.

Sista GP said...

Insanity in the meaning that we suggest they unify to go to war with someone else to save ourselves. More innocent lives will be lost.
How could we consider our troops to be more important than theirs?

All-Mi-T [Thought Crime] Rawdawgbuffalo said...

Bernice - tha is not wha I a saying. In fact if they did unify for such a purpose, I think Turkey would back down, nd it would offer us chance to pull other nations in the region to sit down and neogiate. We dont think like that. Yes declaring war does not mean you have to go to war. My purview. A life is a life in m book as well. But I know if someone invaded my country like the Turks did or we did them, Id be willing to fight to the death LIVE FREE AND FIGHT< or LIVE FREE AND DIE

Sista GP said...

I see your point.
And if someone "invaded" my home, I would fight until they were dead, gone, or BOTH.

The Black Snob said...

The reality is since it is currently the United States' job to protect the sovereignty of Iraq it would really be us trying to mitigate a war with Turkey to protect the internal structure of Iraq.

If Turkey invades (as it already has) and moves further into the country the US will have no choice but to deal with it or cede the north, the only pro-US region in Iraq, to Turkey. That is what this is really about.

Turkey wants Kurdistan. Historically, pre-Iraq, it was Turkey who told the Kurds who was running things. Turkey wants the oil, hell, Turkey wouldn't mind having the Ottoman Empire back if they could get away with it. The battle has already turned into a half stop terrorism/half nationalist fight.

That's why the US is freaked and hoping Iraq can "come together" under the guise of invasion. But it's all a fallacy. Iraq is incapable of protect itself from any outside army right now. We are the Iraqi Army. And if we let Turkey grab the north, Iran might make a play for the south, then "poof," no more Iraq.

It'll be horribly interesting to see how the US government/military handles this without getting pulled into yet another Middle East conflict. Plus we're normally not in the business with going to war with our NATO allies.

All-Mi-T [Thought Crime] Rawdawgbuffalo said...

Black snob - true, but we stated vehemently in the start, that the North was nd will continue to be a part of Iraq. They do not want 3 nation states fed by zelots, I mean we deposed one who kept it together. Either Rice and the Necons wanted this and lied or they didn't

Don said...

I agree, there is absolutely nothing the USA can do for Iraq. Nothing. The quicker the powers that be understand this, the quicker the men and women who have been sent over...can return to their loved ones. Alive.

Women are the ones who get a man every time. Ask Bill Clinton. lol.

Don said...

@ queen: agreed. America needs to tend to her own business. Thats whats wrong now.

Sha Boogie said...

Start a war to end a war? Am I hearing you correctly?..lol I second queen of the castle on the notion that if the good ol' US &A would stop acting like the damn world police we would not be in this mess, period.

All-Mi-T [Thought Crime] Rawdawgbuffalo said...

Don - i know thats right

Sha - we started the ish with Turkey and the Kurds AGAIN. so why not, what do they have, and like i said likely wouldnt be a war then

Too complex a subject for me. And everybody's said everything already.

On a tangential issue, on a lark, I checked out that "whatwhitepeoplelike" site, because, after all, I AM White and the most recent post was absolutely brilliant. And it dovetailed very nicely with the kind of shit I was getting at in my "Gospel Tapes" post and was very germane to my own experience. They get zillions of hits so I won't get a response from them but I'll show you what I wrote.
I LOVE THIS SITE AND THIS COMMENT.

"...As a WHITE MAN of means who actually had political reasons for moving to Latin America I hold that “I’m moving to Canada” bullshit beneath contempt.

People who say that shit to represent some image really scald my nuts.

They have no idea what it feels like — stressful! — and how families get fucked up. And I freely admit that I had enough money and juice to make it work for me.

Dorks who threaten to move to Canada because centrist douche-bags like Kerry lose elections should talk to my 8-yo son and see how he feels about it!

Nice job..."

Now that is what I call thinking out of the box, and it may work, we already in bed with both in our political threesome

Ah we did that little move with providng weapons to Saddam when we were trying to keep the peace there...remember we armed him, we trained them. I am not sure if this is your idea of diplomacy or more of the George Bush "take the world by force tactic"...which by the way doesn't work!

I have no problem with the US nation building. It is our moral imperative to look out. What I have a problem with is the inequity in which we go about exerting force. (read africa/china/and other places in asia that could use our brand of "whup ass"

If and when the middle east does decide to unite that would be the greater threat. Because the overarching rule would not be democracy, but fundamentalist islamic rule.

Islam in its truest sense is very beautiful, but you mix in, culture, centuries of hatred, greed, western influence and BOOM! The region becomes a force to be reckoned with. I am not suggesting that we work to keep the region unstable. I am suggesting that they need to come on board with their share of making the world a better place. They have to feel like the world is a place that respects their culture and religious systems..all of them...even when they themselves do not.

Your way is scary even to those of us who like your swagger and I like your swagger. However, I think you are off point. If we were in a bar I would chat about this some more over tequila.

Cheers, baby.

This was satire, right Torrance?

You are going to put the three parts of the state you smashed into smithereens back together by force with the purpose of attacking the most advanced Muslim republic on Earth which happens to sit between Western Europe and Russia?

Let's say you could get the Sunnis, Shia and Kurds to agree -- this would be much, much harder than solving Belfast by the way -- to do it under a US flag (right)! OK, What is to be gained? Presumably rights to the Bosphoros and Dardanelles and the shipping fees. That's a way smaller prize than all of Iraq was to begin with. So, there's no real financial or strategic gains to be made but there are some serious costs.

Do you realize how central Turkey is? It is Arab Muslim, it is Western European, it is Persian, it is Russian, it is even Jewish! If and that's about a 10mm/1 shot you could convince the 3 states that made up Iraq to do this who are your allies? Greece, the Greek part of Cyprus and Armenia. That's it. You have made enemies of the REST OF THE WORLD.

So, what's going to happen? It really depends on who acts first after the presumably "successful" invasion and occupation of Turkey goes without too much problem (right). If the Russians feel threatened enough to act first, expect ICBMs buried into NYC, DC, SoCom in Georgia, Omaha, LA, Chicago, and Seattle within 30 minutes.

If China acts first, expect the market to be flooded with dollars and the USA to have the economic power of Ghana or the Domenican Republic. Within 5 hours.

If the European Union acts first, you'll get a mix-n-match of the Russia and China scenarios. The EU voids itself of dollars, nukes the US and probably the UK just for safe-keeping. Same time frames: 30 minutes for the nukes, 5hours for the complete economic holocaust.

Maybe Israel acts first. Small tactical nukes against the closest Arab threats and the big stuff at maybe DC, Omaha, NY, and SoCom. 20minutes.

But before any of the nuclear powers act first, the entire world will already have exploded into mayhem everywhere. The Rue De Foubourg-St-Honore within 10 minutes will look like downtown Camden on the 4th of July.

You got to stop drining generic malt liquor, man, and switch to Schlitz!

Turkey may well be the glue that's holding this world together. You think Turkey's a joke? You're an F/X man. How well would you have done lending Lira and financing it by borrowing USD over the past 5 years? What was the average carry, like +5000 basis points? Maybe more!

I give you the world of credit for thinking up the single easiest and quickest way to end human life on planet Earth and with diplomacy, negotiation and conventional weaponry no less!

I think I enjoy your blog so much because you have just as twisted a sense of humor as I do.

New to your site. Thanks for leading me over here. As a vocal Mom of a Soldier, I enjoy reading many viewpoints on the War.

The people in Iraq have joined together on many occasions. One that comes to mind is the unification of spirit, shown with the dancing in the streets in celebrations when Iraq won the Asian Cup.

Sunni's, Shiite's, and Kurds celebrating together. They were united in pride of their country. It was very heartwarming.

Until al Qaeda began car bombing the crowds.

I am not going to revert back to my old song and dance explaining the progress in Iraq. Instead, I am pointing out the desire of the people to move forward.

Only time will tell us if they will be allowed to succeed.

For me, I will continue to support our men and women. The letters and emails we are receiving from Iraq are very positive.

The people are working with each other. Tribes are cooperating in many of the regions to root out terrorist pockets.
