War of the worlds

The lethal attacks last week in Mumbai got me to thinking a little more on the future prospect for peace in Southeastern and central Asia. I have always felt that if there was any chance of a big jump off in the region, it would be the threat garnished by the three nations with nuclear armaments: Israel, India and Pakistan.

Now I know most folks feel that these attacks were the result of a terrorist group that may or may not be affiliated with al Qaeda., but on a lower level, I cannot see such. The Mode of Operandi was almost Navy seal like and seems to have a military feel on the surface for me, but I have not really studied it that in depth. But what I have studied is the history of consternation between India and Pakistan, which for me is the center of what is or may be jumping off in months or years to come.

India has the second fastest growing economy in the world only behind China and historically, has had problems with its Islamic Neighbor with which they share a common border. They have a somewhat lengthy history starting back in 1947 and in the near recent times in 1965 when the Second Kashmir War fought between the two nations over the disputed region of Kashmir. In 1965, India crossed the boarder and attacked Pakistan, which as I have always regarded as a major source of instability since past history informs us that both have threaten to pulverize each other, even if that meant using nuclear weapons.

I don’t want to get to deep on this, however, I would like to offer some food for thought, namely that I feel that the tensions are running deep for these nation states, and since both are very major players in our presupposed war on terror, something may need to be done if we are sincere about stomping out Bin Laden’s folk. What I feel will happen is that Pakistan will begin amassing troops along the border of India, which means they will be taking troops away from its border with Afghanistan and reduce their efforts to rid the region of al Qaeda and the Taliban. India has not seen so much destruction in its financial capital since March 12, 1993, when a series of 15 bombs exploded across the capital, killing 257.

So to make things short, this is a very dangerous situation, and all of this history is the result to me of the British in the region, and over the state of Jammu and Kashmir. H.G. Wells wrote a tale called War of the Worlds and I’m sure many of you have read the story. Although what we see between India and Pakistan doesn’t involve aliens, an alien culture started this via colonialism. Let’s just see how this plays out. Because I wouldn’t be at all surprised if India preemptively attacked their nuclear rival adopting the Bush doctrine for themselves

torrance,

Paksistan is yet another islamic nightmare country. Its full name is the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and its capital is Islam-abad.

Pakistan was cut out of India in 1947, shortly after India was granted independence from Great Britain. The Hindus of India wanted to separate themselves as quickly as possible from the muslims, who have a lengthy history of making life miserable for non-muslims in their vicinity.

As is typical of islamic countries, islam is the official state religion. Thus, non-muslims live in fear of the government. However, in fact, almost 100% of non-muslims have departed from Pakistan, as they have from every other muslim country.

The Mumbai slaughter was yet another act of terrorism committed by muslims who are totally incapable of living peacefully within their own borders.

Torance, you wrote:

"The Mode of Operandi was almost Navy seal like and seems to have a military feel on the surface for me"

Every US Navy SEAL is insulted by your comparison.

First, by making the comparison, it seems you are suggesting that US Navy SEALs were involved. Based on your previous suggestion of a government conspiracy behind the death of Ron Brown, your implication is no surprise.

You should consider the facts instead of reaching for imaginary conspiracies. Since the founding of islam, there have been territorial problems when muslims must co-exist with non-muslims.

India willingly ceded a lot of its real estate to give a Two-State solution to a problem created by muslims. Unfortunately, the muslims living in and around Israel want a One-State solution. A single state that erases Israel from existence.

Meanwhile, muslims are creating misery in Africa, particularly in sub-Sahara regions.

You conclude by suggesting that India might embrace the Bush Doctrine and attack Pakistan.

You've got it backwards. The Pakistanis attacked India first.

The Bush Doctrine is all about striking first to stop a threat, especially a muslim terrorist threat. However, once again, the muslim terrorists struck first.

Of course that statement is made within a context. There have been small skirmishes between India and Pakistan since its founding in 1947. But I think the Mumbai slaughter is the worst.

Of course the number of deaths in Mumbai are nothing in comparison to the number of deaths that occur whenever an earthquake hits. Moreover, the death toll from easily preventable disease in both India and Pakistan is huge.

Bottom line -- even when a sovereign government splits a country to give muslims their very own nation, they continue to attack and assault their benefactors.

There is something seriously wrong with those morons.

I have to agree with no_slappz on the surface. Outwardly it does appear that this boils down to some age old religious idiosyncrasies. To stop there only exposes a simpletons view. A closer analysis reveals more. As of late tensions between the two nations have simmered. The dialogue between them now bears witness to that.

Reports seem to suggest that from planning, execution and scale the attacks were very methodically orchestrated. Directly or indirectly I say CIA for a few reasons: as a smokescreen for some of the shady shit they doing over there (i.e. sustained bombing of Pakistani villages), to further foster dissension between these two nations(the old divide and conquer), the Indian govt's failure to act in light of having received "precise warnings".

Gangsta shit is unfolding, if India takes off on Pakistan it's a wrap.

no_slappz said...

nicki nicki,

So it's your conclusion that the CIA wants to lure India and Pakistan into a nuclear war.

Yeah.

The difficulty with muslim terrorist attacks is the near impossibility of pinning them on a recognized government.

Obviously the muslim terrorists are Pakistani muslims with the usual hate for non-muslims that, in this case, uses Kashmir as a basis for attack.

YOu seem to be among the crowd who believes that omniscient and distant puppeteers control events everywhere on the globe.

You really need to learn something about Pakistan, India, muslims and hindus. The two countries are already divided. The idea in 1947 was to satisfy muslim issues by giving them a nation. But nothing works when it comes to these clowns.

What would happen if serious hostilities broke out between India and Pakistan?

With an unstable government attempting to run Pakistan and a military that might have its own ideas, predicting the limits of escalation in a war between the two is impossible.

But frankly, India will not attack Pakistan because no direct links between the muslim murderers and the Pakistani government will emerge. However, life might get tougher for the 150 million muslims who live in India.

no_slappz said...

torrnce, it is true that Israel, Pakistan and India have nuclear weapons.

It is also true that Egypt has the bomb too. Worse, however, is the fact that Iran is close to building one.

Meanwhile, China is part of the nuclear club and undoubtedly some of the former members of the old Soviet Union located near Pakistan possess a nuke or two.

However, if I were to bet on which country -- Pakistan or India -- could successfully launch a nuclear attack on the other, well, I'd bet big on India.

Pakistan is most likely to fire a dud. North Korea got its nuclear technology from Pakistan. When North Korea demonstrated its bomb a year or two ago to scare the crap out of Japan, the bomb exploded with all the force of a 4th of July skyrocket. As with everything technical, muslims are incompetent. There's no reason to think they can build an atomic bomb. It's not easy.

But they might buy one that works. That's far more likely than building one of their own.

How many warheads does Pakistan possess? Far less than the number in India's arsenal.

It would be a grave mistake for Pakistan to take conflice with India too far. There are about 180 million Pakistanis, and about 150 million muslims living in India who might sympathize with Pakistan.

But there are over 1 Billion Indians. Pakistan is outmanned and outgunned.

Your idea's are very well thought out. Perhaps we could make a bet on the fact that we never find out who did the training? Perhaps China......

I sorta anticipated your response slappz. You said "obviously the terrorist are Pakistani" with no supporting fact(s) but then that is your trade mark.

Pakistan is a US ally in the war on terror. As such Pakistan has received monetary and military aid as well as military training. There's no telling who's benefitting from that aid and training and what/where they are applying it. So again I say that on the surface it appears like the usual suspects. You asked "what would happen if serious hostilities broke out". I ask what would happen if those two nations settled their differences. Imagine that area as a united front. If you're obliviuos to the possibilities then perhaps you need to learn more about "Pakistan, India, muslims and hindus".

You can say that there are element in their organization that are very pro Taliban.

@No Slappz

You need to hop off the Muslim tip. You can go through history and point out the atrocity of every major religious groups against one another including those not aligned with a major group.

The one thing that they all have in common is that their actions are counter to their teachings, and does not represent the whole.

Your hysterical ranting against "muslims" only serves to fuel confusion, fear, and hate.

Somehow having grown up during the 70's and hearing about Baader-Meinhof and the Japanese Red Army, the IRA and a whole host of other terrorist organizations, I'm not really convinced that being believeing in Islam automatically makes you a terrorist or your country a nation that supports such activities. I also am not sure why anyone expects people who were enemies before colonization would be friends after it. Surely whatever differences that existed before the British Raj would exist after, just like the differences that were there between the Serbs and Croats before WWI and arose again after Marshall Tito died and Yugoslavia broke up.

I don't think the fake monolith of terrorism "Al Queda" had anything to do with this. Does anyone really think Osama bin Laden is still alive? But I am really tired of hearing this drumbeat of tying acts of violence with Islam. They don't do anymore that what the US does in the name of their God (greed and dominance).

Good post.

Alternet has a great series about who may actually be behind the attacks--it really is some Jame Bond, Dr. No stuff if the story is at all accurate. Who is in bed with this supposed ringleader? You guessed it. The CIA.

My scenario. If Pakistan is smart they let the Indians stage some airstrikes on supposed "terrorist" camps and both sides save face. The problem is that the Gov't of Pakistan is weak to begin with and the ISI (their intelligence agency) is dangerously factionalized. In fact, if India hits back and Pakistan doesn't retaliate the gov't may fall and we will all be screwed given the nukes and how ISI is in bed with Al Qaeda.

My solution: get on the phone with my Pakistani counterpart and tell them I want some heads (or other body parts). I then phone the Americans and have a predator take out those rogue ISI agents. The Pakistanis then go covert on the actual group which launched the attack.

We all save face.

Don't shirk on the haters...we all know the Seals and UDT's in 'Nam (and in the present) are no joke as operators and have done quite a bit of "wetwork."

I suppose a lot of people here will deny some painfully obvious facts -- like the fact that the Mumbai attack was the work of motivated muslim suicidal terrorists/murderers.

However, as with all crimes, the issues of Means, Motives, and Opportunity apply. This slaughter is like many other muslim slaughters, including the deaths of the murderers. And, of course, the muslim murderers took the extra step of targeting, torturing and killing Jews.

The sickness of muslims and the evil of islam is demonstrated so often that it has become acceptable.

Robert Kennedy was assassinated by a muslim in 1968. One thousand Americans were murdered by muslims BEFORE 9/11. Meanwhile, muslims murdered thousands and thousands of other innocent victims around the world in the name of their religion. Sick.

Mumbai Attackers Came From Pakistan’s Karachi, Official Says

By Pratik Parija

Dec. 2 (Bloomberg) -- The gunmen who killed 195 people in India last week came from Karachi in what “appeared” to be a suicide mission with no plans to return, the chief of Mumbai police told reporters in the city today.

The ten attackers split into five groups of two each, hired five taxicabs to get to their destinations before blowing up two of the vehicles, Hassan Gafoor said in a televised press conference.

One of the terrorists caught by the police admitted he was from Pakistan, Gafoor said.

The deadliest attacks in 15 years began Nov. 26 at hotels, restaurants, a rail station and a Jewish center in India’s commercial hub. The assault ended three days later.

To contact the reporter on this story: Partik Parija in New Delhi at pparija@bloomberg.net.

torrance,

US Navy SEALS would take offense at any comparisons to the muslim terrorists who committed the Mumbai slaughter because US Navy SEALs are not terrorists, they are not suicidal, and they are loyal patriots who serve America. They are also some of the most skillful military personnel in the world.

The muslim Mumbai murderers were/are terrorists, they went on a suicide mission to kill Jews and as many other unfortunate victims as possible, and they are NOT honorable servants of any government.

Furthermore, they were not skillful killers. It's easy to kill large numbers of unarmed innnocent citizens in hotels and office buildings. It takes nothing more than finding a setting in which to find the largest number of totally innocent people. Hotels are good for that. Then there was the attack on the Jewish center and the torture and killing of at least 6 Jews.

According to reports, only 22 "foreigners" were killed. And 6 were Jewish. In a country where Jews are welcome -- India -- but few live, it's impossible to overlook the fact that the Jewish center was a chief target of the slaughter.

India has good relations with Israel. If anything, these sick muslim terrorists were doing their best to disrupt the good relationship between the two.

no_slappz said...

nicki nicki, your references to A.Q. Khan and Abdul Salaam support my point and destroy yours.

As I said, muslims are incompetent, not stupid.

They are incompetent because they are followers of islam, the religion that ensures societal failure and backwardness.

First, with AQ Khan, he seems to be the only person from Pakistan in possession of the knowledge needed to build a nuclear weapon. The only Paki in history to get that far in physics.

Meanwhile, there are thousands of physics graduates in the US with the same knowledge.

Why do so few muslims reach the upper ranges of scientific study? In a word -- islam. The religion defines itself as the sum total of all knowledge a muslim needs in his life. The religion is anti-intellectual, backward, opposes debate, presents itself as the "Constitution" for all muslims. Hence, it is law and government and religion all in one.

Of course a few smart muslims break free of the worst restraints the religion imposes. Abdul Salaam seems to have been one of them.

Abdul Salaam is the ONE and ONLY Paki to win a Nobel Prize. But guess what? He went to college and graduate school in England. He's a Cambridge man. In other words, he owes his Nobel to the education he received far away from the muslim crackpots of Pakistan.

Bottom line -- if muslims had it in them to separate religion from the other aspects of life, they would, as a group, enjoy far greater prosperity and modernity.

But, due to the influence of their hidebound religion, they remain as close to the Dark Ages as it's possible to remain today.

Why are there no industries in muslim countries? Why do they sell nothing in world markets except dates and olives? Why are women slaves in muslim countries? Why is one of their chief exports the rugs made by women? Why must they import everything that is not an agricultural product?

Why? Because they are incompetent. A condition induced by their moronic religion.

Either way, it doesn't matter.

Bottom line: muslims are clearly the primary cause of problems that arise with non-muslims. And, in addition, they hate each other. Sunnis and shiites slaughter each other with almost as much relish as they slaughter non-muslims.

Guess again. Terrorism is widely accepted by muslims. It is accepted at both the individual and government levels and the evidence is overwhelming and incontestable.

As for other terrorist groups, well, you should learn to compare and contrast them. The only common thread to those you mentioned is the fact that they were all responsible for killing a few people before disbanding.

Baader Meinhof - a handful of nuts who operated for a brief period in Germany.

The IRA -- participants in a local conflict between Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland. Violence never occurred outside the realms of the two opponents. Never was there an expectation that one group or the other would leave the contested territory. Never did the Prostestants fly a jet into the Vatican. And finally, after several decades of back and forth, they have reached an agreement to live in peace together. Seems to be working.

The muslims should learn something from the Northern Ireland experience.

As for the former Yugoslavia, the conflict between the crackpots there goes back about 500 years. However, it was the muslims who were facing slaugther there. Not surprising since they are outnumbered and outgunned.

Then what? Not a Two-State Solution. But a Three-State Solution. Seems to be working.

Can Hillary Clinton broker a Two-State solution between Israel and the surrounding muslims? Probably not. Why? Because the muslims far outnumber the Jews. There are too many muslims determined to drive every Jew and every non-muslim out of the region for a peaceful resolution to evolve.

Best bet is to remove the leadership in Tehran and Damascus with cruise missiles aimed at government offices.

You wrote:

Yeah. Based on your theory, the US should resume its war with England. Or Mexico. YOu seem to think that some humans are incapable of adopting attitudes, policies and practices that are good for all. Sadly, with respect to muslims, you are correct.

By the way, the US split into two nations, fought the Civil War and then reunited. Would it have been a better idea for the Union to accept the Confederacy and attempt to live peacefully alongside it? India decided it was best to give muslims their own countries -- Pakistan and East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). Clearly the hindus realized living peacefully with muslims was unlikely to succeed.

Well let me say this about all of that.

First off, as a person who dwelled in the underworld of covert military operations for years, (and make no mistake “dwelled” is the right word), I can assure you that no U.S. Special Forces of any kind had anything to do with this.

How can I be so sure? Because from an operational standpoint, there was no signature to indicate otherwise. In fact, the whole operation, (although successful), was sloppy.

This is something I think that I would caution folks about. Not every act of blatant hostility is a result of the United States involvment. Trust me, I worked with people from “The Company” for three years. They simply aren’t as cool and calculating as you might think. Conspiracy theorist may have you believe otherwise, but the fact is, there are bad people in the world who aren't Americans. People who are capable of warring tendencies without us.

Secondly, not All Muslims are bad people, and the Nation of Islam is not at its root an evil empire. Do they need to do a little policing? Maybe, but remember, here in America we have our own terrorist organization based in the Christian religion. It’s called the Ku Klux Klan. Because of them would we consider all Christians evil?

Lastly, Pakistan and India really aren’t my worry. They’ve been at it long enough to know that they need to keep themselves in check. It’s Iran that the real problem. That government is nuts. Absolutely certifiable. Unlike Pakistan and India, they think they can blow up the world and still get to heaven with 40 virgins and a goat.

Like so many terrorist attacks in the past, (Munich comes to mind), this was a disillusioned group of individuals that wanted to make a name for themselves. They are everywhere in the world, just waiting for the opportunity to come knocking. It’s just how things go today.

But we must always keep in mind that no matter how wild the world gets, the smart people can keep it together. It’s the crazy folks that will get us all killed.

The news just keeps on coming:

Mumbai attacks: Terrorists took cocaine to stay awake during assault

Terrorists who battled Indian commandos for 60-hours last week relied on cocaine and other stimulants to stay awake for the duration of the fight.

By Damien McElroy in Mumbai
Last Updated: 12:54PM GMT 02 Dec 2008

The heavily built men, who had undergone training at a special marine camp established by the Lashkar-e-Taibat (LeT) terrorist group in Pakistan, had also used steroids to build a tougher physique.

"We found injections containing traces of cocaine and LSD left behind by the terrorists and later found drugs in their blood," said one official.

"There was also evidence of steroids, which isn't uncommon in terrorists.

"These men were all toned, suggesting they had been doing some heavy training for the attacks. This explains why they managed to battle the commandos for over 50 hours with no food or sleep."

One terrorist used the drugs to keep on fighting despite suffering a life-threatening injury.

Drugs are commonly used in India by workers in jobs where a lack of sleep is demanded, such as truck drivers and security guards.

The 10 men who attacked prominent Mumbai landmarks were able to hold off hundreds of India's best trained special forces by mounting sophisticated ambushes, maintaining a constant, steady rate of return fire and a superior knowledge of the layout of the buildings seized.

The gunman captured during the attacks on Mumbai has told police he underwent months of commando-style training in an Islamist militant camp in Pakistan.

The training was organised by the LeT and conducted by a former member of the Pakistani army, a police officer close to the interrogation said.

"They underwent training in several phases, which included training in handling weapons, bomb making, survival strategies, survival in a marine environment and even dietary habits," a senior officer said.

There is nowhere where I have said how I believe people should act or behave. I have no theory to espouse about who should fight whom and be friends with whichever. If you had taken the time to try and understand what I wrote you would see that I did not believe that colonization was responsible for activities that happened after independence as they had been occuring before colonization.

Your analogy of the US and Great Britain made no sense whatsoever, since before colonization the only people in the America were Native Americans, there was relationship good or bad between England and America before colonization.

India and Pakistan have been battling over Kashmir for what seems like forever.

Maybe what needs to happen is the UN or six nations -- 3 chosen by each India and Pakistan, to come in and divide the damned region in half and each country gets that half.

Now that both India and Pakistan have nukes, the prospect for a regional nuclear war is some serious shit and can't be allowed to happen.

No Slappz,

I am afraid you may get burned out trying to say what you are saying.

Trust me, people can't hear that. Its too much. People don't want to hear it.

Basically, people want peace. Peace against the CIA and Israel. It makes the world easier to digest with these set fixtures. These predetermined enemies. There. Finished.

At this point in the world, no one can say anything bad about what's going on in Muslim countries, They don't really CARE. Many are just glad that there is something that seems black-ish or brown-ish and its got power. Like Obama. any type of terrorism involving Muslims, etc. doesn't matter.

Any killing they do to each other is "brotherly quarrels" and dismissed with not much more than a headshake and forgetfulness.

Look. I'll make it simple. Anything perceived as white is the enemy. Okay?

Kit (Keep It Trill) said...

I'm late to this, Torrance, and ironically did a similar post on it today. Agreed, it could end up with a nuclear exchange, although the last thing I read was they'll fight a conventional war - in Afghanistan.

The news from India and Pakistan continues to flow:

Police: Mumbai gunmen came by sea from Pakistan

By RAMOLA TALWAR BADAM, Associated Press Writer Ramola Talwar Badam, Associated Press Writer

MUMBAI, India – The gunmen who attacked Mumbai set out by boat from the Pakistani port of Karachi, then later hijacked an Indian fishing trawler that carried them toward this financial capital on their suicide mission, a top police official said Tuesday.

As evidence of the militants' links to Pakistan mounted, Mumbai police commissioner Hasan Ghafoor said ex-Pakistani army officers trained the group — some for up to 18 months — and denied reports the men had been planning to escape the city.

"It appears that it was a suicide attack," Ghafoor said, providing no other details about when the gunmen left Karachi, or when they hijacked the trawler.

The revelations came as a senior U.S. official said India received a warning from the United States that militants were plotting a waterborne assault on Mumbai. The Bush administration official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of intelligence information, would not elaborate on the timing or details of the U.S. warning.

The Indian government is already facing intense public accusations of security and intelligence failures after suspected Muslim militants carried out the three-day attack across Mumbai last week, killing at least 172 people and wounding 239.

Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee also said his country gave a list of about 20 people — including India's most-wanted man — to Pakistan's high commissioner to New Delhi on Monday.

India stepped up the pressure on its neighbor after interrogating the only surviving attacker, who told police that he and the other nine gunmen had trained for months in camps in Pakistan operated by the banned Pakistani militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba.

On Tuesday, U.S. officials also pointed the finger at Pakistani-based groups, although they did not specifically mention Lashkar.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is to arrive Wednesday, and the U.S. is pressuring Islamabad to cooperate in the investigation of the siege that paralyzed Mumbai and left six Americans dead.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates said extremists were "apparently targeting Americans and Britons, but the truth is that most of those who were attacked were Indians."

Gates also told a Pentagon news conference that the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. Mike Mullen, was headed to the region.

Of greater concern for India was the apparent failure to act on multiple warnings ahead of the Mumbai attacks, which Indian navy chief Sureesh Mehta called "a systemic failure."

India's foreign intelligence agency also had warnings as recently as September that Pakistan-based terrorists were plotting attacks on Mumbai, according to a government intelligence official familiar with the matter.

The information, intercepted from telephone conversations apparently coming out of Pakistan, indicated that hotels might be targeted but did not specify which ones, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk publicly about the details.

The information was relayed to domestic security authorities, but it was unclear whether the government acted on the intelligence.

The Taj Mahal hotel, scene of much of the bloodshed, had tightened security with metal detectors and other measures in the weeks before the attacks, after being warned of a possible threat.

But the precautions "could not have stopped what took place," Ratan Tata, chairman of the company that owns the hotel, told CNN. "They (the gunmen) didn't come through that entrance. They came from somewhere in the back."

The building was the last to be cleared, following the Oberoi hotel, the Jewish center, and other sites struck in this city of 18 million.

India said evidence from the interrogation of the surviving attacker, Ajmal Qasab, pointed to Lashkar, which was outlawed in 2002 in Pakistan under U.S. pressure.

Ghafoor said the gunmen were trained by ex-Pakistani army officers.

Qasab told police his group trained for about six months in Lashkar camps in Pakistan, learning close-combat techniques, hostage-taking, handling of explosives, satellite navigation, and high-seas survival, according to two Indian security officials familiar with the investigation. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to give details.

Qasab told investigators the militants hijacked an Indian vessel and killed three crew members, keeping the captain alive long enough to guide them toward Mumbai. The men then came ashore at two places, officials said.

For the first time, the U.S. also said there is reason to suspect that the terror attacks were the work of a group at least partly based in Pakistan.

The remarks, from a senior State Department official, did not detail the evidence, and did not single out any terrorist organization, but they were the closest a U.S. official has come to laying blame for the assaults.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is under way, was careful to say that the evidence was not all in.

Nevertheless, India has demanded action from Islamabad and summoned Pakistan's high commissioner to India on Monday night, giving him a list of "those persons who are settled in Pakistan and who are fugitives of Indian law," said the Indian foreign minister, Mukherjee.

India also has demanded that Pakistan take "strong action" against those responsible for the attacks.

India presented Islamabad with a similar list after the 2001 attack on India's parliament. But while tensions then between the nuclear-armed nations escalated so rapidly that many feared imminent war, the talk this time has been more subdued.

"Nobody is talking about military action," Mukherjee said Tuesday, according to the Press Trust of India news agency.

However, he later appeared to backtrack, telling the NDTV news channel that "every sovereign country has the right to protect its territorial integrity and take appropriate action."

Pakistan also seemed to be taking initial steps to comply.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi offered to establish a joint investigation with India and said the government wanted to continue a peace process begun in 2004 and broadened this year to include cooperation in fighting terrorism.

"We are examining it, we are considering it, and after consultation we will give a reply," Qureshi said of the list. "We do not want to do anything which could fan tension. We want to de-escalate matters."

He said he had told India, "We will fully cooperate with you, so that we can reach the bottom."

Topping India's list is Dawood Ibrahim, a powerful gangster and the alleged mastermind of 1993 Mumbai bombings, India's most deadly, which killed 257 people. Ibrahim fled to Dubai and later to Karachi. Pakistan has denied he is now in the country.

Several members of the list are wanted in the 1993 attacks, apparently carried out in retaliation for the demolition of a 16th century mosque by Hindu nationalists in northern India.

The other prime fugitive on the list is Masood Azhar, a suspected terrorist freed from an Indian prison in exchange for the release of hostages aboard an Indian jet hijacked to Afghanistan in 1999.

India has listed Azhar, the head of the Jaish-e-Mohammed militant group, as the "principal accused" in the attack on parliament.

India also demanded the leaders of two Kashmiri militant groups, Hezb-ul-Mujahedeen and Lashkar-e-Tayyaba, and several leaders of an uprising by Sikhs.

Curious,

Whether you care to admit it or not, there is widespread acceptance of terrorism among muslims.

Are all muslims terrorists? No.

Do muslims oppose acts of terrorism committed by muslims against non-muslims? No.

Note that muslims riot, causing death and destruction, when cartoonists create comic images of Muhammad. In muslim countries it is a capital crime to attempt to convert a muslim to another religion. In muslim countries women are slaves.

It's remarkable that anyone who lives in a free country should offer the tiniest shred of support for islam.

The islamic religion is the source of backwardness, poverty and misery for a billion people. But it seems you do not care about that.

As I have said, muslim countries are obviously backwaters, where religion dominates the lives of the citizens and everyone suffers as a result.

There are no industries and there is no civil society in muslim countries becasue islam does not permit either.

no_slappz said...

Dope fiend, you wrote:

"Your comments are extremely offensive, you do understand that some of the most intelligent persons come from Pakistan..."

There may be a few intelligent people in Pakistan, but they are remarkably ignorant nonetheless.

By any measure of useful intelligence, Pakistan fails utterly and completely.

Only ONE Paki has ever won a Nobel Prize. If there were a large number of intelligent people in Pakistan, at least TWO people would have won Nobel Prizes.

There are no Pakistani inventors, scientists, artists, mathematicians, etc.

Hence, your claim about intelligent people coming from Pakistan is ridiculous.

What always lurks in the back of my mind is how "America" is always telling someone they can't go to war but they're (we) are always the first to go in with guns blazing. How do we get off going in bombing folks to protect ours and then turn up a nose when someone else does it?
I just know when I hear of all this turmoil over there I'm so grateful I don't have to go out wondering if a bomb is going to drop today. We really don't appreciate that we live in peace.

The groups are Jaish Muhammad, also known as the Army of Muhammad, and Lashkar Tayyibah, aka The Army of the Pure.

u seem like a member of some hindu extremist group!

You claim all muslim countries are backward and Islam is a backward religion then probably u should come out of your slum in India! chk out www.muslimheritage.com you will know wht all you use today was invented by muslims 100o yrs back! Prince Charles, Heir to the British Monarchy, in a recent public speech at Oxford University stated:"If there is much misunderstanding in the West about the nature of Islam, there is also much ignorance about the debt our own culture and civilisation owe to the Islamic world. It is a failure, which stems, I think, from the straight-jacket of history, which we have inherited. The medieval Islamic world, from central Asia to the shores of the Atlantic, was a world where scholars and men of learning flourished. But because we have tended to see Islam as the enemy of the West, as an alien culture, society, and system of belief, we have tended to ignore or erase its great relevance to our own history."

Regarding jihad which people believe muslims conduct nowadays check out the strict rules about jihad - http://www.hweb.org.uk/index2.php?option=com_content&do_pdf=1&id=18

Muslim the only terrorist yeah ryt you need a reality check ..Look at Indians killing low caste hindus ... hindus burning and killing muslims in gujrat! Your "STATE ACTORS" (army is part of hindu extremist organizations plotting against muslims as they believe "INDIA IS FOR HINDUS ONLY" and even against chritians in orissa where they burnt nuns and raped as well!

Your gandhi was the biggest racist of all he insulted blacks in CWMG [CWMG, Vol.1, pg. 410] he writes "Ours is one continuous struggle against a degradation sought to be inflicted upon us by europeans, who desire to degrade us to the level of the raw kaffir* whose occupation is hunting, and whose sole ambition is to collect a certain number of cattle to buy a wife with and, then, pass his life in indolence and nakedness". He has even called them animals and dirty in his work not only that he even practiced racism on low caste hindus.*(The term "Kaffir" is a South African pejorative for blacks which is equivalent to the "n" word. Its use has been an actionable offense in South Africa since 1975. Despite always using it to describe black Africans, Gandhi was fully aware of the offensive nature of the word. While protesting religious conflict, Gandhi wrote: "If 'Kaffir' is a term of opprobrium, how much more so is Chandal?" [CWMG, Vol. 28, p. 62] "Chandal" is a racist term for low-caste Hindus)

If muslim are so backwards why don't indians leave the middle east and go back to india!

P.S: Pakistan is not 100% muslims there are hindus as well as Christians in Pakistan as well.

anonymous,

As your post states, there was a time -- roughly 1,000 years ago, when muslims were a little ahead of other societies in the world. Maybe.

However, your argument is standard silliness among muslims. It makes no difference TODAY that muslims were in better shape 1,000 years ago.

In fact, this observation makes my point. The muslim world has, in almost every way, stood still for the last 1,000 years.

There is NO muslim technology. Is there a muslim car company? No. A muslim computer company? No. A muslim aircraft designer and manufacturer? No.

The muslim world depends on selling oil OR it has virtually nothing. Pakistan is good for the cheap labor needed to stitch clothing for the US market and other markets.

Almost every building in muslim countries is designed and engineered by non-muslim architects and engineers.

In short, there is no need for a patent office in muslim countries becasue the Koran, in its own anti-intellectual way, prohibits innovation and inventiveness.

About the only development muslims can claim is the suicide vest. But even the idea of suicide bombings was taken from the Tamil Tigers of Sri Lanka.

as for Pakistan's population, there are so few non-muslims in the country, they are a meaningless minority -- and undoubtedly part of the dhimmitude.

Dude we have invented EVERYTHING!! We gave u ideas !!By saying 1000 years ago I don't mean that nothing has been invented since than!! How can you even say that all the buildings are built by non-muslims??!! You should come to MIDDLE EAST and see the educated people here arab/muslim men and women who are in arts, business, architecture, law and every field are progressing!

Why dont' you tell me what you hindus have been CREATING around the world?? INVENTIONS??

Also, if Republic of India was that great then how come every country where immigration is open is full of Indians who VOLUNTARILY quit India and choose to live abroad?

Highest consumers of H1-B visas: Indians
Highest applications for UK immigrations: Indians
Also top 5 immigrants in Australia, Canada, etc.

As for Tamil tigers YOUR indian army had trained them during Indira Gandhis rule!! Stop denying reality!

AS as your claim Islam promotes backwardness and prohibits innovation you should actually read the Quran rather than stating something you heard from someone!! Islam says "GAIN KNOWLEDGE" and even asks to "GIVE EDUCATION TO GIRLS"!! What muslims are doing now...we don't believe they are muslims! coz they are going against the teachings.

You hindus have just invented the cow urine soft drink and cow shit snacks as they are HEALTHY! I can see how progressive you are!

Pakistan has hindu temples, christian churches which of some are located together with mosque as well as the famous sikh temple! If thats the case than even HINDUS are more in INDIA than muslim and chritians!
Even india is good for cheap labor working in call centers for westerners like dogs!

India's nuclear is even made by a muslim!

FYI no_slappz Hindus were against partition that is why they slaughtered thousands of Muslims during partition and the reason for the state for Muslims was because NO RIGHTS were given to Muslims in INDIA! Till now reports by India claim worst treated people in India are Muslims. Hindus even destroyed the babri mosque in India.

anonymous,

First, where did you get the screwy idea I was Indian? Apparently it just popped into your head for no reason.

My mother's family came to the US from England in the 1600s and my father's family came to the US from Austria in the 1800s.

My family history aside, can you name a muslim inventor or scientist?

What did HE invent?

Can you name a muslim mathematician?

What scientific or technical developments were the products of muslim minds?

Why are there NO muslim industries other than making rugs and stitching clothing?

Why is the oil industry run by westerners?

The chief architechural firm designing the monstrosities being built in the middle east is Skidmore Owings Merrill, a US firm. Much of the construction is handled by a major Korean firm.

You are delusional if you think muslims are anything but backward goofballs living under the oppressive thumb of Islam.

no_slappz said...

dj,

Undoubtedly a few Hindus opposed the partitioning of India. So what?

Obviously the partitioning happened. And no doubt Hindus are happy. Meanwhile, since India and Pakistan have fought a couple of wars since 1947, it's clear that neither side wants to reunite the separate nations.

And, to you too, muslims have invented nothing.

There are NO muslim industries.

India has Tata, the car company and a long list of others. Pakistan and other muslim countries have nothing. Though there are a lot of warlords in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The ignorance level among muslims is hard to top. Meanwhile, as long as middle east governments willingly form themselves around the idiocy of the Koran, muslims will continue to live in ignorance.

Anonymous said...

If you are not Indian than probably you should learn more in fact A LOT more before you say anything about both of these countries and the history!

AS for inventions by Muslims I've mentioned it twice you have probably been brainwashed so
much that you can ignore all facts or are acting like a frustrated kid throwing a tantrum.

Arabs Muslims have fashion houses, real estates, engineering, contracting industries, media, art galleries and a lot more in fact now they are kicking out people of other nationalities including a much larger number of westerners/Asians and giving jobs to Arabs that is the past when westerners ran everything now Arabs are EXTREMELY educated and run everything by themselves . The whole Dubai financial center is run by ARAB/MUSLIM educated women !

Westerners come to Middle east and say they are ashamed as they didn't know people here are so well educated and intelligent!

Pakistan has car factories, leather industry, steel mills, marble industry, textile industry, sports equipment factories which are run by PAKISTANIS and are exported around the world!!

BTW it would be better for you to stop dissing Arabs/Pakistanis/Muslims at every opportunity with inaccurate or laughable allegations!

no_slappz said...

anonymous,

Can you name a Paki scientist? No you cannot because there are none. Except for the clown who involved with the development of Pakistan's nuclear bomb -- Khan -- and he went to college in England.

You said Pakistan has a textile industry -- I said Pakistan stitches clothes for Americans -- same thing. By the way, the US is Pakistan's biggest buyer of those shirts and pants.

You said Marble Industry. Well digging rocks out of the ground is rather low tech and meaningless.

Where's the computer industry? There is none.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is illiterate and poor. Only a small percentage of women are allowed in schools, and the level of education in the country is extremely low.

Your problem starts with how little you know about Pakistan AND all the advanced countries of the world.

As I said, all the engineering and building in the arab/muslim world is handled by westerners.

You might see that some muslim "company" has contracted to build a building. But the muslim firm hires western firms to do all the work. Like all those ridiculous buildings in Dubai, and every other muslim nation with grand ideas about tall buildings.

By the way, NO women run anything in Dubai.

By the way, if there is a Pakistani steel company, what is its name?

You said there are Pakistani car factories. What cars? Ford? Chrysler? GM? Toyota? Honda?

It seems that shame is a big problem form muslims. There seems to be universal muslim embarrassment for the complete absence of competence at anything in the muslim world.

You are the MOST IGNORANT person in the world. The economic crisis has really hit your head bad.

All you do is 'RAMBLE' which makes no sense whatsoever.

You keep repeating the SAME things trying to prove something but TRUST ME you are not.

Pakistan's steel mills name is 'Pakistan steel mill'.

NO WOMEN run anything in DUBAI...Haha.. more than getting angry at you I PITY YOU! You are so ignorant. There are women ENTREPRENEURS in Dubai and other Muslim world as well!! GOOGLE IT...or do you think people in Muslim world don't have access to Google!! With the ignorance level so high one can expect anything from you.
Arabs are kicking out westerners!

The rich and the poor are everywhere homeless/beggars are even in U.S/U.K...the drop outs of students from school in U.S are probably the highest in the world. More than half of U.S is run by foreigners.

Yeah your car INDUSTRIES..Close to being BANKRUPT!

You are so great that's why your country is going around begging Muslim world and china to buy there treasury bills.Over the past 15 months, the Arab oil countries have been the biggest buyers of US treasury bills worth $245 billion. Saving you guys!

The carpet factories is not that cheap as you think it is when you get time off from shopping at china town do come to a carpet showroom where hand crafted carpets made of pure materials such as silk are sold for MILLIONS!

no_slappz said...

anonymous,

The Pakistan Steel Mill was built by the Russians. As always, the muslims were not able to design and build a steel mill.

Meanwhile, the steel is used only internally in Pakistan. In other words, it is low quality and there is no market for it outside Pakistan.

In Dubai, as I said, there are no women entrepreneurs. Women are not allowed to drive in Dubai.

I've noticed that muslims have a high level of ignorance about their own culture. This ignorance seems tied to the issue of muslim shame.

As for the problems of US car companies, yes, they are real. But the bankruptcies of major companies in capitalist nations are part of capitalism.

In one form or another, GM, Ford and Chrysler will continue to build cars -- millions of them every year. The Japanese will continue to build cars, as will the English, the French, the Italians, the Germans and the Koreans.

But no muslim country will build cars, computers, aircraft, ships, or any other products that are common to advanced nations.

Stitching clothes and weaving rugs is about as advanced as internal muslim technologies get.

The US is now in recession, which means the pain will flow to muslim nations. Oil prices are proof. Many muslims will not notice, however. They get so little benefit from the oil industry that they won't feel the price drop.

PAKISTAN HAS NO AIR FORCE??LMAO You fool Pakistan is even currently building it's own aircraft's. As for you Indians your aircraft's are known as "Flying coffin" with the amount of crashes that take place in India itself.

At least Pakistan makes it's own missiles without anyone's help but you Indians even take help for that. France helped India master liquid-fuel technology by selling India the technology used to build the “Viking” engine used on the Ariane space launcher. India calls its version the “Vikas.” The Agni also needed a guidance system. The German Space Agency obliged with a long tutorial in rocket guidance, which allowed India to develop a guidance system and learn how to produce its components (gyroscopes, accelerometers and so forth). The German Space Agency also tested a model of the first stage of the SLV-3 in one of its wind tunnels in Cologne and helped India build its own rocket test facilities. Germany also trained Indians in how to make composite materials. Thus, India’s biggest nuclear-capable missile is an international product. Under the mantle of peaceful space cooperation, the United States, France and Germany all helped create the most advanced nuclear missile in South Asia.

And women do drive in Dubai btw do you even know where DUBAI is??

No art in Muslim world?? Have you seen the mosques which are famous for it's architectural designs and designs within the mosque ALSO known as ISLAMIC art which are famous around the world. Heard of Gulgee?? One of the World renowned Pakistani artist heard of Amin gulgee?? World renowned for creating sculpture. You have no knowledge of arts and I bet you wouldn't be even familiar with Islamic calligraphy which is quite famous. In fact a Hindu in India has asked Muslims to design a Hindu temple using Islamic art.

The only reason why premarital sex is prohibited in our religion is because our religion teaches us modesty, it teaches us not to run after worldly desires, fight the evil desires which come in our mind and it will be considered as a jihad as well, it teaches us discipline and take control of ones own life and not to be weak against evil desires which come from Satan. We believe in the hereafter where we have to be answerable to God on how we spent our lives we believe this life is a test.
And btw premarital sex is forbidden in ALL religions. If you know any religion which allows it do lemme know.

You are delusional. Can you name these Pakistani missiles? It is likely that Pakistan assembles the missiles from parts obtained from other countries. But that's typical of muslim nations. Muslim nations buy the parts and sometimes put them together. But as I've said, the Koran forbids innovation, which means no technical developments occur in muslim countries. None.

Really? No. Even foreign women are prohibited from driving. I tried to arrange for the rental of a car for my wife to drive in Dubai. But the people at the Jumirah Hotel refused to arrange for the car. However, they said they would provide a car with a driver to drive her around.

Send me a photo of a woman in a burka driving a car. Send it to no_slappz@yahoo.com.

You wrote:

"No art in Muslim world?? Have you seen the mosques which are famous for it's architectural designs and designs within the mosque ALSO known as ISLAMIC art which are famous around the world."

Architecture is NOT art. There is no art in islamic society because the Koran forbids the imagery that is central to art.

The fact that a fatwa for Salman Rushdie's life was issued is enough proof. Then there is the killing, by a muslim, of Theo van Gogh for making a movie of the mistreatment of muslim women.

Or the fact that pictures of muhammad with a bomb on his head is enough to inspire muslim riots.

Your problem with art is that you do not know the definition of art. In the muslim mind, art is the act of glorifying islam -- nothing more.

You wrote:

"The only reason why premarital sex is prohibited in our religion is because our religion teaches us modesty..."

Your first problem, the first problem with islam -- is the claim that "modesty" and sex are connected. Meanwhile, it is obvious you are referring to women when you mention "modesty".

Moreover, muslim countries enforce dress codes on women. Burkas, chadors, head scarfs, keeping bodies covered. This means women are subjected to huge restrictions in their lives -- due to religious idiocy, which has the force of law because islamic countries are governed by islamic governments.

You wrote:

"...it teaches us not to run after worldly desires, fight the evil desires which come in our mind..."

Oh. You are saying that sex is an evil desire. I'm laughing at you. You are frightened by sex.

What sexual experience have you had? Any? None?

Jihad? So you now say you will kill in response to sex. Of course in countries where women are stoned to death or whipped for having sex, your position is clear.

Satan? Sex? I'm laughing again. Your fear, the deep islamic fear of women and sex, and the extreme efforts made to control women, make muslim men look like the world's biggest clowns.

In the US, religion is separate from politics and law. That is one reason the US is the most innovative country in the world.

You wrote:

Thus, you believe that suicide bombings and attempts to destroy the US, Israel and the West are goals of your god.

You wrote:

"And btw premarital sex is forbidden in ALL religions."

First, no LAW is based on religion in the US. The LAW allows sex between any consenting adults -- even if they are the same sex and if there are more than two of them engaged in sex.

Second, both Christianity and Judaism recognize and accept the reality of pre-marital sex. Both religions might "discourage" pre-marital sex, but neither religion rejects anyone for ignoring the "discouragement."

Your problem is your inability to see beyond islamic dogma.

U.S guides the PAF?? lmao In your dreams!!

The problem with U.S is there media is controlled by a few people and show you as if they are the heroes of the world and are training and saving everyone in this whole wide world. Americans are trying to give an impression that Pakistan Army and Frontier Constabulary is not trained and they will train them. it was these very Pakistani soldiers who saved American soldiers in Somalia from militants and not vice versa.

PAF is contructing it's own jets agreed it even buys from other countries but it's even constructing it's own.

Pakistan has made ghauri, shaheen and many more. scientist at Pakistan's Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), Pakistan also has a 435 mile nuclear-capable missile ready for a test-launch, the Shaheen-I. Mr. Mand also claims that Pakistan is developing the Shaheen-II, a nuclear-capable missile that will have a range of 1250 miles. In the future, an even longer-ranged missile is likely Pakistan's current ballistic missile infrastructure "will support development of a missile of 2,500-km range," which would put all of India within range.

Yes imagery art is forbidden in Islam. But there are other elements that make Islamic art
Calligraphy, Geometry :
Islamic artists developed geometric patterns to a degree of complexity and sophistication previously unknown. These patterns exemplify the Islamic interest in repetition, symmetry and continuous generation of pattern. "The superb assurance of the Islamic designers is demonstrated by their masterful integration of geometry with such optical ef fects as the balancing of positive and negative areas, interlacing with fluid overlapping and underpassing strapwork, and a skillful use of color and tone values. "...More than any other type of design (geometric patterns) permitted an interrelationship between the parts and the whole of a building complex, the exterior and the interior spaces and their furnishings."Floral patterns :
Islamic artists reproduced nature with a great deal of accuracy. Flowers and trees might be used as the motifs for the decoration of textiles, objects and buildings. In the Mughal architectural decoration of India, artists were inspired by European botanical drawings, as well as by Persian traditional flora. Their designs might be applied to monochrome panels of white marble, with rows of flowering plants exquisitely carved in low relief, alternating with delicately tinted polychrome inlays of precious and hard stones, Jones notes.

In regards to Islamic decoration Own Jones writes, "(W)e never find a useless or superfluous ornament; every ornament arises quietly and naturally from the surface decorated."

Here is the article on the influence of ISLAMIC ART in the west: The impact of Islamic arts on the West

The idea of a traditional Islamic art and architecture that began in 7th-century Syria and grew to encompass the art and architecture of lands from the Atlantic to the Indian oceans, write Blair and Bloom (1994), is a creation of late 19th- and 20th-century Western thought. According to Blair and Bloom, there is no evidence that early Muslim artists ever thought of their work as Islamic.

Nor can it be said that there is a dominant style or influence that defines Islamic art. The Moorish Alhambra and the Indian Taj Mahal show that Islamic art and architecture has definite regional variations. However, scholars have devoted much effort to the identification of unifying principles in Islamic art -- geometric design and the arabesque, for example.

It can be said, however, that the art and architecture of Islamic countries has long influenced the West. Blair and Bloom note that a painting such as The Reception of a Venetian Embassy in Damascus , attributed to the school of Bellini in the early 16th century, was undoubtedly the work of an artist familiar with the topography and monuments of Damascus. And the 17th-century Dutch painter Rembrandt owned a collection of several dozen Mughal and Deccani paintings which he copied.

The influential Viennese publication of Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach's general history of architecture in 1721 included Arab, Turkish and Persian architectural representations. The book lead to the design of several European structures in a quasi-Oriental manner. Write Bloom and Blair, "Although Fischer von Erlach's sources were such public monuments as mosques, the resulting designs were almost exclusively for such civil structures as kiosks, pavilions, palaces, and theaters, all pertaining to an architecture of leisure with which the Orient was invariably associated."

In 1750, Frederick, the Prince of Wales, commissioned the English architect William Chambers (1723-1796) to design an "Alhambra" for the gardens at Kew. The resulting design had little in common with the original Alhambra in Spain except for the paired slender columns used for support. Chambers followed this design with an octagonal pavilion in the form of a mosque. "It was based on a free improvisation on the domed Ottoman mosques flanked by minarets illustrated by Fischer von Erlach," write Blair and Bloom. "A pagoda completed the trio of exotic buildings... at Kew."

As European visitors to Turkey became familiar with the kiosks in public gardens where coffee and other beverages were served, the visitors brought home their interest in the structures. And the new kiosks built in Europe not only served their original function as garden pavilions but also developed into band-stands and news-stands.

British artists and architects also found inspiration in the monuments of Muslim India. One of the first British artists to visit Agra, William Hodges (1746-1797), drew and painted the beauties of the Taj Mahal. And English landscape painter Thomas Daniell (1749-1840) published Oriental Scenery in six folio-sized parts between 1795 and 1808. Blair and Bloom write that each part had 24 hand-colored aquatint plates that brought Indian scenes to a wide audience. The popularity of the prints led Daniell to publish a separate volume dedicated exclusively to the Taj Mahal. Daniell later was hired as a consultant to help design a British residence with such features as a bulbous dome with corner chatris and overhanging eaves, cusped arches and pinnacles.

The future George IV commissioned architect John Nash (1752-1835) to remodel an unfinished structure at the Royal Pavilion. With inspiration from Daniell's publications, Nash designed a pavilion with a large central ogival dome offset by four subsidiary domes. "The Oriental fantasy," write Blair and Bloom, "extended as far as the kitchens, where iron palm trees with copper fronds support the roof, but Nash used the latest technology, such as cast-iron ceiling frames and columns. In addition to giving the royal nod to the Oriental mode, the building set the style for glazed conservatories with bulbous domes."

Also drawing numerous visitors from Europe and America was the Alhambra. After visiting the site, British architect Owen Jones ( designed two palatial houses in Kensington Palace Gardens in the Moorish style. And in 1854, he created an Alhambra Court, following the Court of the Lions, for the reconstructed Crystal Palace in Sydenham.

Some of the earliest and finest examples of Orientalism in Western painting were produced by French artist Eugene Delacroix (1798-1863) who had been to Morocco in 1832. Write Blair and Bloom, "(Delacroix's) opportunity to visit a harem, apparently the dream of almost every nineteenth-century man, resulted in a picture such as his Femmes d'Alger , painted two years later in 1834."

After touring Syria, Palestine and Europe, American landscape painter Fredric Church (1826-1900) did a series of Mediterranean compositions that included scenes from Jerusalem and Petra. Church also returned from his trip with an enthusiasm for Islamic architecture. And after 1870, he devoted most of his efforts to the design and construction of his estate at Greendale-on-Hudson, New York. The mansion was called Olana, from the Arabic word for "our place on high." Blair and Bloom write that the house combined Alhambra motifs, and Persian tilework. Piazza columns and the stencils in the Court Hall also are based on Persian motifs.

A number of 19th-century international exhibitions further introduced the West to Islamic arts. The Great Exhibition of 1851 at London's Crystal Palace included Persian exhibits of carpets and carpet design that held influence over William Morris (1834-1896), the poet, designer and theorist of the Arts and Crafts movement. Morris did not imitate the Persian designs but found inspiration in their geometric patterns. Morris' own carpet designs -- with their rich colors, coherent patterns and planar surfaces -- show the impact Persian Vase carpets had on the English artist, write Blair and Bloom.

Discerning European collectors were drawn to ceramics from the Islamic world. British collectors amassed collections of Ottoman ceramics known as Damascus or Rhodian wares, as well as Persian luster tiles and vessels. And, according to Blair and Bloom, this interest led to a revival of luster techniques in Europe. The designs of ceramicist-artist William De Morgan (1839-1917), continue Blair and Bloom, exemplify the Islamic mood that began to appear in the 1880s, partly as an expression of the Near Eastern romanticism and partly because of the affinity of the arabesque with the sinuous forms favored by the Art Noveau movement.

According to Blair and Bloom, the French painter Henri Matisse (1869-1954) may be the greatest Western artist to integrate his own work with the influences of Islamic art. Matisse not only attended a number of exhibitions of Islamic art, but he also traveled to southern Spain, Morocco and Algeria. Blair and Bloom write that while Matisse's predecessors had added Oriental motifs to give their works an exotic flavor, Matisse actually incorporated the lessons he learned from viewing Islamic art into his paintings. In The Painter's Family , for example, Matisse's tripartite composition and the flattened perspective are devices common to Persian manuscript paintings, as are the figures that seem to float in space.

The fatwa against rushdie was because he wrote utter crap. And you being a hindu if someone pointed finger at your religion how would you feel?? If I write a whole book claiming vedha and geeta or ramayan has EVEREYTHING wrong in it would you still comtinue to like me. When in India during gujarat riots a few hindus thought muslims are responisble for killings they went on Killin muslims burning them, raping muslim women which later turned out to be a technical mistake in the train.

MODESTY is for BOTH sexes in Islam. You question why women are covereed up in muslim countries which many muslim women do by there own consent,

The status of women in Islam is often the target of attacks in the secular media. The ‘hijaab’ or the Islamic dress is cited by many as an example of the ‘subjugation’ of women under Islamic law. Before we analyze the reasoning behind the religiously mandated ‘hijaab’, first study the status of women in societies before the advent of Islam

1. In the past women were degraded and used as objects of lust

The following examples from history amply illustrate the fact that the status of women in earlier civilizations was very low to the extent that they were denied basic human dignity:

1.

Babylonian Civilization:
The women were degraded and were denied all rights under the Babylonian law. If a man murdered a woman, instead of him being punished, his wife was put to death.
2.

Greek Civilization:
Greek Civilization is considered the most glorious of all ancient civilizations. Under this very ‘glorious’ system, women were deprived of all rights and were looked down upon. In Greek mythology, an ‘imaginary woman’ called ‘Pandora’ is the root cause of misfortune of human beings. The Greeks considered women to be subhuman and inferior to men. Though chastity of women was precious, and women were held in high esteem, the Greeks were later overwhelmed by ego and sexual perversions. Prostitution became a regular practice amongst all classes of Greek society.
3.

Roman Civilization:
When Roman Civilization was at the zenith of its ‘glory’, a man even had the right to take the life of his wife. Prostitution and nudity were common amongst the Romans.
4.

Egyptian Civilization:
The Egyptian considered women evil and as a sign of a devil.
5.

Pre-Islamic Arabia:
Before Islam spread in Arabia, the Arabs looked down upon women and very often when a female child was born, she was buried alive.

2. Islam uplifted women and gave them equality and expects them to maintain their status.

Islam uplifted the status of women and granted them their just rights 1400 years ago. Islam expects women to maintain their status.

Hijaab for men

People usually only discuss ‘hijaab’ in the context of women. However, in the Glorious Qur’an, Allah (swt) first mentions ‘hijaab’ for men before ‘hijaab’ for the women. The Qur’an mentions in Surah Noor:

"Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do."
[Al-Qur’an 24:30]

The moment a man looks at a woman and if any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he should lower his gaze.

Hijaab for women.

The next verse of Surah Noor, says:

" And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons..."
[Al-Qur’an 24:31]

3. Six criteria for Hijaab.

According to Qur’an and Sunnah there are basically six criteria for observing hijaab:

1.

Extent:

The first criterion is the extent of the body that should be covered. This is different for men and women. The extent of covering obligatory on the male is to cover the body at least from the navel to the knees. For women, the extent of covering obligatory is to cover the complete body except the face and the hands upto the wrist. If they wish to, they can cover even these parts of the body. Some scholars of Islam insist that the face and the hands are part of the obligatory extent of ‘hijaab’.

All the remaining five criteria are the same for men and women.
2.

The clothes worn should be loose and should not reveal the figure.
3.

The clothes worn should not be transparent such that one can see through them.
4.

The clothes worn should not be so glamorous as to attract the opposite sex.
5.

The clothes worn should not resemble that of the opposite sex.
6.

The clothes worn should not resemble that of the unbelievers i.e. they should not wear clothes that are specifically identities or symbols of the unbelievers’ religions.

4. Hijaab includes conduct and behaviour among other things

Complete ‘hijaab’, besides the six criteria of clothing, also includes the moral conduct, behaviour, attitude and intention of the individual. A person only fulfilling the criteria of ‘hijaab’ of the clothes is observing ‘hijaab’ in a limited sense. ‘Hijaab’ of the clothes should be accompanied by ‘hijaab’ of the eyes, ‘hijaab’ of the heart, ‘hijaab’ of thought and ‘hijaab’ of intention. It also includes the way a person walks, the way a person talks, the way he behaves, etc.

5. Hijaab prevents molestation

The reason why Hijaab is prescribed for women is mentioned in the Qur’an in the following verses of Surah Al-Ahzab:

"O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad); that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
[Al-Qur’an 33:59]

The Qur’an says that Hijaab has been prescribed for the women so that they are recognized as modest women and this will also prevent them from being molested.

6. Example of twin sisters

Suppose two sisters who are twins, and who are equally beautiful, walk down the street. One of them is attired in the Islamic hijaab i.e. the complete body is covered, except for the face and the hands up to the wrists. The other sister is wearing western clothes, a mini skirt or shorts. Just around the corner there is a hooligan or ruffian who is waiting for a catch, to tease a girl. Whom will he tease? The girl wearing the Islamic Hijaab or the girl wearing the skirt or the mini? Naturally he will tease the girl wearing the skirt or the mini. Such dresses are an indirect invitation to the opposite sex for teasing and molestation. The Qur’an rightly says that hijaab prevents women from being molested.

7. Capital punishment for the rapists

Under the Islamic shariah, a man convicted of having raped a woman, is given capital punishment. Many are astonished at this ‘harsh’ sentence. Some even say that Islam is a ruthless, barbaric religion! I have asked a simple question to hundreds of non-Muslim men. Suppose, God forbid, someone rapes your wife, your mother or your sister. You are made the judge and the rapist is brought in front of you. What punishment would you give him? All of them said they would put him to death. Some went to the extent of saying they would torture him to death. To them I ask, if someone rapes your wife or your mother you want to put him to death. But if the same crime is committed on somebody else’s wife or daughter you say capital punishment is barbaric. Why should there be double standards?

8. Western society falsely claims to have uplifted women

Western talk of women’s liberalization is nothing but a disguised form of exploitation of her body, degradation of her soul, and deprivation of her honour. Western society claims to have ‘uplifted’ women. On the contrary it has actually degraded them to the status of concubines, mistresses and society butterflies who are mere tools in the hands of pleasure seekers and sex marketeers, hidden behind the colourful screen of ‘art’ and ‘culture’.

SO CALLED INNOVATIVE COUNTRY U.S

9. USA has one of the highest rates of rape

United States of America is supposed to be one of the most advanced countries of the world. It also has one of the highest rates of rape in any country in the world. According to a FBI report, in the year 1990, every day on an average 1756 cases of rape were committed in U.S.A alone. Later another report said that on an average everyday 1900 cases of rapes are committed in USA. The year was not mentioned. May be it was 1992 or 1993. May be the Americans got ‘bolder’ in the following years.

Consider a scenario where the Islamic hijaab is followed in America. Whenever a man looks at a woman and any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he lowers his gaze. Every woman wears the Islamic hijaab, that is the complete body is covered except the face and the hands upto the wrist. After this if any man commits rape he is given capital punishment. I ask you, in such a scenario, will the rate of rape in America increase, will it remain the same, or will it decrease?

10. Implementation of Islamic Shariah will reduce the rate of rapes

Naturally as soon as Islamic Shariah is implemented positive results will be inevitable. If Islamic Shariah is implemented in any part of the world, whether it is America or Europe, society will breathe easier. Hijaab does not degrade a woman but uplifts a woman and protects her modesty and chastity.

YES we take pride in Glorifying Quran and our prophets. Don't you take pride in glorifying your religion??

The reason why the religion is kept separate from politics and law is because a few people, the AIPAC who have taken control of U.S media don't want people to think outside the box, all you are after your whole life is drugs, booze, money and sex. They control your minds ...brain washed you. You think this life is for FUN when it's not, the media has put into ones mind 'ENJOY, YOU HAVE ONE LIFE DRINK HAVE SEX GO TO STRIP CLUBS' . When you have one life than try to make something out of it not waste it.When a Holy Book says 'DON'T DO THIS' it means 'DON'T DO THIS' it doesn't mean it's discouraged and you can do it if yo want to. IT'S A HOLY BOOK for GOD SAKE, you treat it as just ANOTHER book.

dj,

Paki Air Force personnel train with Americans -- US Army Rangers, in particular. Meanwhile, without US help the hapless muslim pilots would never learn how to fly the US-made planes.

As for your goofy assertions about islamic art, the only examples you gave were of American and French artists using the middle east landscape for the art they created.

Anyway, as I said, you are too dumb to know the difference between art and craft. Mosques are examples of craft, not art.

Carpets are craft, not art. Calligraphy and geometry are not art.

As you said, imagery is forbidden for art -- proof of complete suppression of the artistic impulse.

You wrote:

"The fatwa against rushdie was because he wrote utter crap."

Did you read "The Satanic Verses"? If you are a good muslim, you did not read the book.

I read it and enjoyed it. However, as a muslim, you will believe what you are told by muslim religious leaders, never believing they are nuts.

You wrote:

"And you being a hindu if someone pointed finger at your religion how would you feel??"

If you want to believe I am a hindu, that is okay even though you are wrong. However, you can write anything you want about the evils of hinduism, the evils of Christianity or the evils of Judaism, and I will not care.

I might point out factual mistakes, but I do not care if you think Christ was a terrible person. Meanwhile, from your post I can see that you are -- like all muslims -- deeply anti-Semitic, which is a basic proof of your idiocy.

You wrote:

"If I write a whole book claiming vedha and geeta or ramayan has EVEREYTHING wrong in it would you still comtinue to like me."

That book has already been written. You muslims are pathetic victims of your religion, which thrives on misery among yourselves and contempt for non-muslims.

You wrote:

"When in India during gujarat riots a few hindus thought muslims are responisble for killings they went on Killin muslims burning them, raping muslim women which later turned out to be a technical mistake in the train."

Maybe your story is true, or maybe it is one of the many fictions that crowd the minds of idiot muslims.

Either way, I do know that 19 muslim hijackers crashed four jets into three buildings and one field in the US on 9/11, killing people I knew and destroying my office which was on the 47th floor of World Trade Center Tower One.

You wrote:

"When a Holy Book says 'DON'T DO THIS' it means 'DON'T DO THIS' it doesn't mean it's discouraged and you can do it if yo want to. IT'S A HOLY BOOK for GOD SAKE, you treat it as just ANOTHER book."

The Koran was written by muhammad, who was obviously a schizophrenic nut. As for Holy Books, sorry, but Holy Books are unimportant in the US. You are a slave to your self-defeating religion.

Meanwhile, as I said, you are scared of sex, scared of women and probably think muslim terrorists are doing good work.

Where's the picture of the female taxi driver in Dubai?

I don't even want to debate you, because you HATE Islam so much that your eyes and heart is sealed and whatever i might say you won;t believe it.

And we don't hate Christ, we consider him our Prophet.

I feel sorry for what happened with you and your friends during 9/11 but in case you haven't seen various documentaries like 'Loose change' you'll know that 9/11 was an inside job. May God bless your friends souls.

And if you talk to most of the Muslims they hate who these so called Muslim terrorists are doing. I fail to understand who these Muslims are who bomb in mosques, killing innocent people, bombing at shrines of religious people and even bombing innocent non-Muslims.They commit suicide bombing killing innocent people and whenever they are cursed by the families of the victims they will suffer even after they die.

All I can say to you is:
“O unbelievers!”
I do not worship those that you worship
neither do you worship Him Whom I worship;
nor will I worship those whom you have worship;
nor are you going to worship Him Whom I worship.
To you is your religion, and to me, my religion.

May God guide you to the right path. God bless you!

Yes. This is the standard muslim lie.

Even though all 19 muslim terrorists who perpetrated were identified, muslims will not admit the truth. Even though Osama bin Laden took credit and mountains of evidence exist, muslims prefer to lie about the situation.

We know who was behind 9/11. However, as expected, muslims like you prefer delusions.

This denial of obvious fact is a critcal reason muslims occupy a low place in the world.

If muslims really hated and disapproved of muslim terrorist bombings, the bombings would stop.

But, as we know the fmailies of suicide bombers receive money from many sources after they kill non-muslims.

I live about two blocks from a Pakistani neighborhood of about 50,000 people. A lot of money has been sent from this area to terrorist organizations. The FBI has arrested a number of people for supporting terrorist organizations.
